Does anyone else's rattie go gaga over ice cubes?  They are Roscoe's favorite treat, even when he was tiny.  He likes to catch them (hurts my teeth to watch!)  Comes running from wherever in the house he is when he hears the freezer door open.

Oh yes, it is a near daily ritual here.  When Janie takes her evening bath she takes a large cup of ice and water.  As soon as she is in the tub there is a line of doggies begging for cubies.  Letting a cube sit in water or run it through warm water and it will partially melt making it easier to chew.  How large a piece they can handle depends on the individual.  We do take care not to give too much as it can chill down the internal organs, leading to a shivering doggie...

Oh, just getting a few more posts under my keyboard...4501 is not that far away now...

We call it "Ice Capades".  Mr. Jack has also mastered the art of cube dunking in the water bowl.  The first time he has to learn to stick his nose in the water, not a natural act.  Once he figured out he would be able to get the cube and still breath there is no stopping him now.  We can't put a handful of cubes in a water bowl now, he'll get them all and freeze his innards in the process.

We only give Roscoe one or two at a time.  Sometimes I break them up and use the pieces for rewards instead of regular treats, he likes them just as much.  Once in a while a cube will stick to his lip and it's pretty hilarious watching him try to get it off...

Ice after walkies!  It's hot down here (north of Houston, TX) and she loves to crunch on her ice.  I had a dog bowl full of water outside, but my neighbor's dog apparently found it empty one day and brought it home to his dad to fill.

Also, when filling glasses with ice, I always give her the little pieces that come out.  And she's right there waiting.
