I found a recipe once but cannot find it again......it's chocolate cake in a flat pan, you cool it, spread the filling and roll. Like a pumpkin roll but only ho ho. I cannot find the recipe though. Anyone make this??

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

I found this one online, Val.  I've never made it tho...

  • Chocolate Cake:
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Ingredients to make cake according to package directions
  • Vanilla Cream Filling:
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 regular can or 1 small can evaporated milk
  • 1 stick of butter
  • Chocolate Glaze:
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 3 bars unsweetened baker's chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tablespoons hot water

Directions [script removed]

  1. Cake:
  2. Prepare chocolate cake mix according to directions;
  3. Pour batter into a 9x13 pan and bake according to directions;
  4. Cool the cake completely;
  5. Cream Filling:
  6. Mix shortening, sugar, vanilla, evaporated milk and 1 stick butter with mixer at low speed, increasing gradually to full speed for 20 minutes;
  7. Spread filling on cooled cake;
  8. Glaze:
  9. Melt 1 stick butter and unsweetened bakers chocolate in double boiler;
  10. Add powdered sugar and enough hot water to make a smooth glaze that is spoonable but not too runny;
  11. Beat until glaze is smooth and shiny;
  12. Spoon on cake;
  13. Keep cake in refrigerator.
