Hi Michelle, good to see you here!

New Rattitude is taking seven, besides 2 moms and 8 babies.  We already have 4 PM dogs from another bust and we have enjoyed sharing their progress on our group chat.  One of our foster moms, who also fosters for another rat terrier rescue group, posted her insights & theories on the care and handling PM dogs, and her comments are invaluable.

We are learning all the time with our dogs and have gained through experience and research much knowldge on how to rehab those pour souls.  I've got 2 mill dogs now, my third one "graduated" to another FL foster home, and I am so proud of her!  This has been the most rewarding experience in all my rescue years.

We'll be happy to help you in any way we can.

I bet everybody would love to see some pix!!    It's amazing to watch these babies go from petrified, unsocialized scared dogs to the Ratties we all know they can be!!

Oh, won't that be fun!  I just got schooled in how to insert pix, so I will do that later.  If they don't come through it's because I messed up.  I can post them on the Photo page, right?

I just started taking videos of my boys, wish I had done it from the beginning.  I'll play later, gotta go do something constructive now.

You don't have to post it pix by pix, if you guys have it on a website like image event, all ya gotta do is post the link!

And for videos, I download mine on Yahoo and post the link here - I can't figure out how to do the videos on here...

Oh! And I don't know if there's ANYTHING more constructive than chatting with the great people of RT.Com (except perhaps saving Ratties)!!

I forgot - that's Dodge, one of my PM boys, as my avatar.  Isn't he just the cutest?  He's progressed from a terrified little quaking bundle to a joker.  He has more socializing (a lot more) to do, but he'll be adoptable as soon as he gets a whole NEW RATTITUDE!

Connie, I remember the picture of Dodge before you got him when he was still at the shelter.....this doesn't even look like the same dog! Amazing how happy and animated he looks in your avatar.

That happy looking guy was a P.Mill dog??? He looks so cool! And definitely HAPPY!

Amazing how resilient these little guys can be...even after so much abuse and neglect.

Once they feel safe.....they are like butterflies emerging from cocoons...

Millions of thanks to all of you who do so much, and put your own lives on the back burner for them!!!

I truly admire all of you who are so willing to take the time and the expense to save these guys!

Yes, that's my Dodgey Do-Do.  He is such a clown, so much fun.  He was emaciated but too afraid to eat.  We had to put him in an X-pen because he screamed when we tried to crate him - I guess he'd had quite enough of cages.  He still won't let anyone else touch him, and he runs around the house like a scared rabbit, but he has come a very long way.  A few weeks ago he came up to me and indicated that I may pet him.  Just a few strokes, then he was gone.  Now I am honored to pet him whenever I choose.  When we're alone in the house, just me & the dogs, we all play and my mill dogs are even learning what toys are for.

That's a great description, "Like butterflies emerging from cocoons".  Honest, Yogi's Mom, we love what we do.  I have "easy" fosters as well as the PM kids, and I love working with them & training them, and I enjoy them them bunches, but the troubled ones capture my heart.  Foster parents in any rescue, any breed, any species - do it for the love of the animals and we feel blessed to be able to help them.

I would love to take one of the ratties. We are looking for a companion for Bella and we were looking to adopt instead of going to a breeder! I called the shelter and they told me all had been adopted? So are they more to be adopted? What is the next step! I live in North Carolina about 1 hour away from the shelter. Tell me how I can help!

Hey Bell's mom,

That's great you are looking to adopt a friend for Ms. Bell.  You can start by checking the rescue sites online and look at pictures and descriptions to find the right dog for your family.  Think about what characteristics you like and personality you are looking for.  Then apply and start the process.  Here are the rescues I am aware of:

New Rattitude - www.newrattitude.org  (This is where I volunteer and I'm located in GA)

Ratbone Rescues - www.ratbonerescues.com    and Rat Terrier ResQ - http://www.ratterrierresq.com/

There are others, but I'm just not familiar with them so do a goodsearch.com if you need to look further.

When working with a rescue you really get to see the dogs personality since they are in loving foster homes and are fully vetted (HW tested, Vaccinations, Microchipped, Spay/Neuter and on HW med) all for a reasonable adoption fee.

If you have questions let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Hi Bell's Mom,

There are 2 beautiful one year old pups from the bust in NC.  They are still in NC and available.  Email me at palchuck@aol.com & I'll send you pictures.

Thanks Connie...I have sent you a email!  Our Bella is now over a year old and we are looking for a friend for her and I don't know of a better way but to adpot one.  I really didn't want to go back to the breeder for one.  Any information you can provide with the ones still in NC would be greatly appreciated  and Thanks again!
