See my post just below.

I updated the post there. This April 25-26 event will be in Sweetwater, TN this year rather than Cleveland. It's an even prettier little town than Cleveland! We considered retiring there very seriously. It's nestled right in the southern end of the Smokies. Lots of good camping and events around there year round. When I updated the post below it didn't bump up to the top of the topics where you guys would see it! |

I edited the above post with the link to the details. I'm working real hard on Lance to go this year. He's not real into the doggie stuff like I am. The folks in this SouthEast-Ratterriers Yahoo Group are really nice people. It's a small group of around 75 members and I think you folks would really enjoy meeting them. The dogs have a blast, they tell me. And we just had a gal from Pensacola join who's rescue rattie is big-time into flyball. She's gonna put on a flyball demonstration at the event this year.
In case I haven't mentioned, you don't have to be a member of the Yahoo group to attend. It's open to anyone interested in ratties and rattie rescue. |

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind
THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?

I would think so but you should probably call ahead or make reservations online.

That's the same weekend as the annual meetup at Nora's I think. They're only about 3 hours apart. |

I'm not sure as this site is new, so I'll ask the coordinator for you tomorrow and post back what she says. I think there was camping near last years site but just not sure about this one. Thanks for posting the KOA link, Ski. That'll help members who are comtemplating attending.

OMG I just briefly checked out the website.............www.ratterrierjamboree.com
and they have now posted the current year info. Looks like it's right by a KOA so I would imagine you just make reservations if you want to take advantage of the KOA. Last year, when it was in Athens instead of Sweetwater, many stayed in a motel that offered discounted rates to attendees. The coordinator hasn't mentioned having any such discount rooms for this year but she's good about updating the website as soon as she has one offering any discounts on rooms. Keep checking back on the jamboree website at the link above. |

Special Rates have been obtained at 2 motels for this event:
The Magnuson (formerly Best Western, 1421 Murraays Chapel Rd, Sweetwater, TN, (423) 337-3541. $62 + tax for 1 or 2 adults. One time $15 pet fee covers up to 4 dogs for total number of nights you stay. Addl. adults $8 per night. Can get 2 double or 1 king bed. Continental breakfast, wireless internet. Closest to Jamaboree site.
Comfort Inn (soon to be an Econolodge), 731 S. Main St., Sweetwater, TN, (423) 337-6646. $45 + tax for a double bed room. $49.95 +tax for king bed room. Dog fee of $5 per dog, per night. Continental Breakfast and wireless internet. FYI: Duck pond with ducks on premises may bother your dogs. Former guests reported duck poop everywhere gets tracked into rooms and your car. Dogs like to eat duck poop just as much as cat poop! FYI, there is another Comfort Inn in Sweetwater near the interstate with rates comparable to The Magnuson, but their pet fee is $10 per dog, per night!
For Campers: The KOA where the jamboree is taking place is offering a 10% discount to jamboree attendees.
This info will also soon be posted on the www.ratterrierjamboree.com website.

Darn, darn, darn! It's the same weekend as the district Junior Civitan convention. Oh well--a weekend with teens will probably be very similar to a weekend with ratties. |
