Anyone out this way that might want to meet up sometime? I don't see many ratties out this way at all. |

That's right! I remember seeing that someone had adopted Paisley from RBR out here. I never really get out that way, do you ever come into the city? I'm in Sellwood. |

Hi Terri
I live in Garden Home (near Washington Square) and I take my dogs over to the Potso dog park in Tigard. It's pretty easy to get to from Sellwood, just down Hwy. 99 to Tigard, if you'd like to meet up with us there sometime. I only go to the Potso park, since they have divided large/small dog areas. Our JRT Lucy is blind, and even though she is just fine around large dogs, being in a large group of them when she can't see puts a lot of stress on her.
Christine - I can't remember if I ever told you that there are several Lab sized dogs that also have smaller dog sibs, so they go into the small dog area. As long as the larger dogs are totally okay being around smaller dogs... nobody has ever a problem with it.

| Hondo dog park (hillsboro) also has separate areas but is not very central. I'd love to meet up. Moose is great with little dogs. My sitter has a chi and he does just fine. I don't have alot of "fenced" dog leash experience so I am learning. Moose has always been able to go off leash but not Paisley. I never want to make another dog owner worry about their dog's safety. I would prefer she find a small dog to chase her instead of a big one! |

Hi Karen & Christine! Nice to (kind -of) meet you both. I would love to meet up in person some time, but have one limitation- I don't own a car any more so, getting around to other parts outside of Portland tends to be a wee bit difficult with Chloe. Trimet is actually really great about letting me take her just about anywhere on the bus or max in Portland without a carrier, but for some reason, they really seem to frown on that in Washington county- othewise I'd lvoe to try to meet either or both of you out your way.
So, if either/both of you would like to meet up over here in Sellwood (right by Oaks Park) there is a really nice dog park (sorry no separated areas unfotunately) , the river to run up and down, and a really nice natural area that I let Chole off lead on all the time and not many others take their dogs there at all. In fact, most days we don't even see but one or 2 others and usually clear across the field from us. So that might be a really safe place for your JRT Karen, if you're ever interested in coming out this way.
So let me know. Would love to meet some fellow rattie lover/owners and see how Chloe does with others of her kind since I hope to adopt another sometime in the fairly near future. I don't know how people to PM's on here, but you could email me (see my bio) and then from there we could exchange phone numbers and what have you.

oh- and I should add.....Chloe does great around other dogs, and really likes big dogs as long as they're not aggresive as she tends to be very submissive with other dogs. Hope I didn't impy that she might not be. But she is just a pup still, so once she warms up, she really just wants someone to run around and chase with because she's fast and she knows it! Also, the 3 areas I mentioned are right next to each other (within walking distance), so if one area didn't work out we could try another. None of the areas are fenced. And you can have your dogs on or off lead- its really up to you. Chloe is just used to be off. |

I sent you an email right after Paisley came home with my home/cell phone numbers in case you wanted to meet up at Potso dog park sometime, did you get my email? If not, let me know, and I'll send it again.

Terri,
So the dog park you mentioned isn't fenced either? I wouldn't have a problem with coming to Sellwood to meet up with you, but if none of the areas are fenced, I would keep my dogs on a leash. I probably won't be able to plan anything for awhile though, my sister-in-law is arriving on Saturday (moving back to Oregon from Tennessee) to stay with us until she finds her own place. She has 3 dogs coming with her... and I just have a feeling life around here is going to be a bit of a challenge until she leaves!
What sort of schedule do you have (as far as free time?) My grooming shop is open Tuesday - Saturday with Sunday & Monday off. I tend to be busiest on Saturdays, so if we need to plan for a weekend Sunday would be best for me.

| I can go anywhere to meet up. Karen, I do believe I have your info - I'll double check. What is the name of your grooming shop? You don't live far from me at all. Moose can be off leash, but I don't trust paisley yet, but she can be on her flexi leash and be happy. I am pretty flexible. Sunday afternoons work for me generally. I work Tues-Wed, that is probably my most inflexible day. |

My grooming shop is Bubbles N' Bows Dog Salon, and I have a website at: http://bubbles-n-bows.com that has my phone number listed, so if you don't have the info from my email, you (or Terri) can get the phone number from there. If I'm gone from the number listed there, I usually have it forwarded to my cell phone, so you should be able to reach me either way, most any time. I am pretty "random" about going to the dog park (either depending on my dog grooming appts. -- or rainy weather & hot temperatures!) Holly is a total wimp... she hates the rain/cold, and if it's too hot they get there and just want to sit and do nothing... because it's too hot! So... I just try to use my better judgement most of the time on whether it might be worth the trip... but am always open to going just going to meet up with you at Potso (or both of us meet Terri in Sellwood) when it works best for both of you! I have a feeling if my sister-in-law (who has now arrived) doesn't find a place to live right away... I'm going to need plenty of little "trips" to dog park just to get away from here for a bit!

Hello All,
I live in Covington, near Kent, WA. I'm not posting this about me, though.... Might I suggest that you PM Susan? She lives in SW WA somewhere, and she drove 4 hours, or something like that to meet up with us in Redmond last summer. She and her daughter were a lot of fun, and Susan REALLY wants to meet up with other RT people.
Thanks,

Hi, not sure how to PM Susan. Can you give me another bit of info? I'm pretty new here, so don't know everyone yet.
Would love to try to get together sometime in the next couple of weeks with everyone- after my adoption with RBR goes through! (Yep- soon I'll have 2 ratties!!) Maybe I'll start a new thread with a time, date and meeting place and see who shows up! Sometimes it's difficult to get things scheduled with people because of busy lives and schedules!

Terri,
Look on the left side of your screen, below the blue box that says Recent Just Chat, and below the ads. There is another blue box that says Private Messages. Click on either of the options, and it'll take you to a screen where you can write a private message. You can address the PM to Susan, since it is her name, and also her RT.com screen name. She's not on often, but hopefully she'll get back to you.

Erin,
I've been watching the WA meetup thread. I attended the one we had last year at Marymoor, and both Zinnia and I had a great time! Maybe we should start the conversation up on the WA meetup thread again. Colleen should be finishing up school soon, and Erica and Charlie are supposed to be visiting this summer. We'll come to some sort of agreement on when to meetup soon, I'm sure.

| YES HOWDY!! I am on line and excited! Portland is only two hours away and I even go there on purpose sometimes! I did not know they had any dog parks. I would love to meet up with other rattie people! But need very good directions as to where you are all meeting. I have to go to portland two times this month already on the 13th and on the 17th up to OHSU with my son and with my granddaughter. I have a batch of pups that need socialization and my Maggie (who likes people better than other dogs as she is an alpha and has to make sure that all other dogs know that) and Berry who likes to meet other dogs and play and Mysty who doesn't know she is very small. I am a little confused sometimes about times and places but I will love meeting others and of course the Ratties. |

How in the world did I miss this???? I'm in West Linn and have met Karen at Potso before! There are TONS of dog parks down here Susan! One is about 5 mins from my house and then Potso is like 15 from me. I have a coworker with a rattie and we meet up there fairly often. The small dog area is great. Add me to that email list! I'm game for a meetup! (And Rowdy is always game! He adores other dogs! ) Terri- if it's decided to meet up over Tigard way, I don't mind meeting you somewhere and giving you a lift to Potso. I know it's not too terribly fr from my place to Sellwood. Just right up Hwy43 and across the bridge. Karen- I keep meaning to call you and set up an appt for Sam! She's starting to get stinky, so I really have to stop putting it off! Have you been to Potso recently? I've gone a few times lately, but haven't seen you. Of course, I think it's been Saturday, usually, so I'm sure you're busy with dog grooming. Have you met Sasha yet? I know ever since I showed Derek Potso, he's been taking Sasha and their Iggy Enzo there. Anyway, you can email me at chrys150@gmail.com! Looking forward to a meetup! |

| Hurrah! I saw Rat Terriers in Porland when I was there for the Ceramic Showcase at the Portland Expo a couple months ago too. I would be happy to come on down and over on a Sunday or during the week. I am out of school on the 12th, with an 3.65 average! Pretty good for an ole lady! My daughter lives in Vancouver and we could visit her too. Hurrah meet up! |

If you all want to pick a date, time & place to meet (Potso would be my own preference.. just because blind Lucy is familiar with that park)... I'll do my best to be there! If it's on a Sunday it shouldn't be a problem for me... but I usually end up with Saturday grooming appts.
Karen- I keep meaning to call you and set up an appt for Sam! She's starting to get stinky, so I really have to stop putting it off! Have you been to Potso recently? Hi Chrys,
I have been to Potso, but pretty hit & miss between dog grooming and all the rainy weather we've had... I'm so sick of it! You know Holly, my "fair weather child" doesn't like the cold/wet! I don't think I've met Sasha or Enzo yet either.

Wow! Hi everybody!! Sorry I haven't been back to this thread in a bit!! I've been just a wee bit preoccupied these days with my adoption process with RBR. Our HV was last night, and am now waiting for the final ,official word on whether or not I get to bring Bonnie home!! The waiting is killing me! LOL! Anyway! I'm at work and should be working- he,he, he. So in an attempt to make this short and simple.... I propose we do 2 meets! One in Sellwood, and one at Potso Park. (hope that works for everyone) I'm going to add a new thread for the Sellwood meetup with a date/time/place for anyone that can meetup over in my neck of the woods. Then maybe Karen could do the same for the Potso meetup! I'll try to make it to the Potso meetup if I can. Would really love to meet all of you and your ratties. Hope to see many of you there - and hopefully I'll be there with my 2 dogs! : ) One on leash, one off. |

Hope everything goes well for you Terri. Just finished a HV myself today (for someone else) and told him about the planned meetups. He totally wants me to pass the info on to him- he's got one older rattie currently and trying to adopt another. And totally loves ratties! Wants to meet more. Anyway, the two meet-up plan sounds good. The unfenced parks always make me way nervous with Rowdy. We've been working on his recall, but he still doesn't do it first-time every-time and that makes me nervous in unfenced, public places. (I have a dog park really close to me here and it's rather disappointing it's unfenced...) Well, I'll follow up later about the Sellwood meetup... see what's going on that weekend. Got to get to bed so we can enjoy the floral parade tomorrow! |

Just thinking.... (and will copy & paste this to the info on the Sellwood meetup thread also.) If we were to plan 2 separate meetups... and the date (June 29th) that Terri suggested works for everyone... shouldn't we either just plan on the same day for "both" meetup locations, and just do Potso a few hours later? If Susan (and possibly others in Washington and/or others "outside" of Portland... still in Oregon) are driving a few hours (or more) to come to Portland, just wondering how likely anyone would want to make 2 separate trips -- to do 2 separate meetup dates -- with the gas prices the way they are???
I know Chrys said she could pick Terri up in Sellwood (if needed) and while I sure don't want to put a "damper" on Terri's Sellwood meetup at all... but it seems that to get the "max" number of Ratties (& their people) together all at one time, the best bet would be to do either both meetups on the same day, or only do it at one location? I AM willing to do just one meetup at Sellwood, but I will NOT let my dogs off-leash in an unfenced area no matter what. So.... other opinions/feedback please?

June 29th works for me, morning does not because of church. I would be happy to pick anyone up. I have an 8 passenger van. I would prefer a fenced park. Paisley's foster mom visited the other night and asked me to let her know when we were meeting up because she would like to join us. And Terri - I know the wait is so hard! I hope you get her. |

CocoBean and I (and Snickers, too) would be happy to join in this meet-up. We also are in the habit of attending church on Sunday mornings. I like Potso Park.
I drove over there from North Portland this weekend. We were fortunate enough to run into Lucy and Holly.
I have a small car, but if needed can help with transporting another person and a dog or two.
I'm looking forward to it!
