I'm getting soooo excited about this - can y'all tell? Somewhere someone posted a list of things to take, but now I can't find it. Does anyone know where it is -- or should we start a checklist here on this thread.
Some things I remember from the earlier post:
- Extra leash and collar
- Dog ID tags
- Water bowl
- Treats
- Donation item for entry fee!
- Medications your pup may be on
- Benedryl (for pup and/or you)
- Sunscreen (ditto)
- Sweater (in case the evening is chilly -- for you and your pup)
I know this is nowhere near the complete list -- we need to get other's input (especially from veterans) and then make comple the complete list.
Do we need to bring our own water for the dogs - or is water available there? |

Thanks, Jolene - yeah, I knew I had no where near a complete list (that's why I need a list)
Let's get more suggestions and then we'll condense them all into one post! |

When you own a Rattie....you KNOW you are in your right mind
THE MEANING OF RESCUE
Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm... Yes there it is, right on the top Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do come with baggage - Will you still want me?

| Thanks Jan, I was looking for this list too. First time for me to go to anything like this with Bailey so I'm kinda nervous about the whole trip. Do we need a donation for both days? and Dillon is coming so I would need a donation for him too? right? |

I didn't read everyones' lists so this may be duplications but here is my list so far.
Here is my starter list, I'm sure I will add and/or remove some things prior to actual trip.
Things to Pack for Jamboree
For use on Campgrounds:
q 12X12 shade canopy. {We had mentioned setting the shade canopies up together somehow (we will figure it out when we get there) to maximize shade}
q X Pen
q Blue Tarp to provide shade over x pen
q Crates for travel (canvas portables for both site and hotel room)
q Chairs folding bag chairs (2 so I can offer a seat for company!)
q Umbrella
q Blue/green quilt for ground
q Extra towels for the pups
q Sunscreen
q Insect Repellant
q Hat (me and pups?)
q Sun glasses
q Comfortable shoes
q Light weight jackets (for me and pups)
q Possible tee shirts for pups, just cause LOL
q RT.com tees and bandanas
q Lots of my calling cards (I want to be able to trade contact information easily and calling cards/business cards are great)
q Leashes for each dog +1 (I'm still working on which leads but both dogs should have Puppia vest harnesses by then)
q Rabies Tag
q ID Tag
q Collar
q Copies of medical records
q Doggie and Human first aid kits/ benadryl
Misc. items for showing off and taking photos, etc. :
q Doggie Duffle to pack all the dog's stuff
q My travel duffle to pack my stuff in
q Aka's puppy book (I'm sure I won't have time to get a book together for Taffy so will take lots of photos for later!)
q Camera with extra batteries and charger and extra memory card
q Cell phone with car charger and room charger
q Toys (Taffy will have to bring at least one of her soft toys for sleeping with at night in the hotel. Aka might bring one of his Frisbees, and a couple of soft toys for the hotel room too.)
q Donation item(s) for the entry fee/raffle
Doggy Cleanup supplies:
q Dooly Bags with container
q Cleanup Nature’s miracle in smaller bottle
q Roll of paper towels
q Handi wipes and doggy wipes
Feeding and Watering:
q Water bowls
q Bottled water
q Dog food (Dry and Canned)
q Dog food bowls
q Small sets of snacks for me and my furry kids
q Ice chest
q Bottles of water
q String cheese and/or some dehydrated snack such as sweet tater chips, hot dog chips, etc
Any ideas, I'd love to hear them. In looking at the list, I almost thought I might need a trailer to pull everything but it really isn't that much and it all packs down very well.
So I will now read the other posts and see if I missed anything. I you think of something else, I'm looking forward to hearing about it!! |

Lots of my calling cards (I want to be able to trade contact information easily and calling cards/business cards are great)
Cheryl~~~what a GREAT idea! I would have never thought of this, but it sure would save a lot of trouble searching all my pockets for a pen and paper to write info on! ((you're so smart!)) |

But thanks for the kind compliments. Paul, wish I could take credit for the calling card idea but got it from traveling to Japan where exchanging cards is a high art form!!

I was re-reading my checklist and actually laughed out loud. My mom asked me what I was laughing at and I said, I have made such a long list of things to take, I just hope I don't forget to take the doggies! As she listen to me read the list, she replied, " I just hope you have room for the doggies!"

| I think an X pen is just an open collapsible pen that can be used to "corral" your pup when you aren't gonna be able to hold it or have it on the leash. I'd have to have a mighty tall one to keep Amos in. LOL I'm just gonna bring a long tie out. |

I am thinking of bringing my larger collapsable crate - I got it when I would haul Dixie and Bonnie around in the back of my truck. I figured Dixie and Katie could go in it when I want a break. I was thinking of bringing a tie out also. We are coming in the Explorer and must save room for Randy and me! |

Nancy, I think the most important things are food, water, bowls and chairs. I'm bringing Benedryl in case of a bug bite or sting -- so I'll have that. And, of course the raffle item. Some of the things listed are optional of course!

Peggy, Been doing some measuring and figuring and maybe I can fit it all in, we will see!! LOL Tauny, I like that idea. In fact if gas prices weren't so high and my finances so low, I'd love to rent a winnebago (class b or c, they look like a van more than a mobile home) and drive up in that and camp at the campground. Alas, I can't afford it. |

I have some sad news, at least for me. Aka, Taffy and I will not be able to go to Jamboree this year. I recently had to have some major repairs done on my car and the quote for some house repairs was about twice what we needed it to be. Also, I don’t have the funds to pay for someone to stay with mom, nor can I find anyone to stay with her.
To say I am sad, is to understate it, but sometimes things in life just aren’t fair, and I’m getting a whole heaping dose the past month through the end of who knows when.
I hope that everyone has the very best of times.
A hui hou,
Cheryl |
