I'm going to be bringing my youngest son with me. I warned him that he would be with a bunch of women who are crazy about their rat terriers, but he wants to go anyway.  Are there any men going?
As of yet, I don't think so, Pam, other than my husband Lance helping me bring stuff to the park. At least, nobody has mentioned hubbies or BF's coming along. That may change in the interim, however.

Thought I'd type up directions to Lions Park since May 3rd isn't that far off!!
COMING FROM I-35
Take Midway Dr. Exit east.
Hickory St. (first light you'll come to in about 3/4 mile) turn right
You come to a stop sign at Hemlock Blvd, which is the street I live on. Go two more blocks past the stop sign and you'll see the Lions Park entrance on your right. Drive through on the park road until you see a covered pavilion just past the fenced softball complex.
COMING FROM HOUSTON
Take 290 northwest to Brenham. Then take 36 north to Cameron.
Take 36/190 on into Temple. FYI: 36/190 becomes the S.H. Dodgen Loop as you approach the city. Stay on 36/190 all the way to I-35 (sorry loop is under construction). Turn south (left) on I-35 and you'll go about a mile.

Dang it... I have to cancel as well. I am so bummed out not being able to attend. I have some events going on in my life right now, and I'm not going to be able to attend. I'm gonna miss out on all the fun and meeting some really great people. SORRY!  |

Looks like we're stilll on for Saturday! One slight change, however. The Parks office asks that the large pavilions be used by just large groups (like big reunions, etc). That only makes sense.
We started out with 13 people saying they could make it and I planned on going early to grab a pavilion. But with recent cancellations, we are down to just 6 in our group: me, Pam, Cat, Bonita (if still coming) and 2 eager people from Ratlover.com. So I think I'll just set us up at one or two of the covered picnic tables instead of the big pavilion. I'll have a sign posted. Just look for my dogs.  Those tables are actually on the right, fairly close to the park entrance. They're all covered tables, nicely shaded and also near a restroom facility. Of course, we can drive/walk around to the horseshoe or playground areas, walking or jogging paths if we like.
Now if you folks would prefer to scratch it totally and do it when more members can come, that's fine with me. But sing out fast so we can decide and anyone with motel reservations can cancel. Otherwise, we're still a GO!

Hey, now there's an idea. Or maybe you can get rid of them early (don't I sound awful) and come on up anyway. We'll probably be out there until at least 6pm or later. Bring a "friend" along to do the I-35 driving. We'll save a couple of hot dogs for ya, Nat! |
