Are all the people on this site against mixed dogs! There is nothing wrong with a mix breed dog! They make just as good a pet as a pure bread! I'm so sick of people demanding that I not breed my dog based solely on the fact that she is mixed! You don't know anything about her but the fact that she is mixed! She is incredibly smart, cute, well-behaved, and has an awesome disposition and temperament! Me breeding my dog to give puppies to my friends has no effect on the shelters! They and there parents do not want a shelter dog for various reasons. I will breed my dog, you may call me stupid and irresponsible but i don't see it that way.

Also people say what does a 17 year old know about breeding dogs. Well both of my parents are breeders, they breed pure bread doberman pincher's.  Also my sister is a breeder she breeds not only rottweilers but horses as well. So i do know a bit about the subject and anything i may not know i have very well educated people to ask. I will someday breed my pure bread, papered, AKC registered Boxer, but before that i will have my rat-chi mix have a litter.

I'm sorry you all have such a problem with mixed breed dogs,  even if they are no different (apart form breeding) then a pure bread dog.

I have no issues with mix dogs. Sometimes they are much more stable than purebreds who are bred by unscrupulous people. And some of the best dogs I've ever had were mixed. And heck if you already have homes for your pups, more power to ya. In fact thats great, I know it's a bummer for me to see all those unwanted mixed or purebreds in shelters and have absolutely no ability to help them because there are just so many and the economy is getting so poor people are dumping more and more everyday. So, viva la mixed pups. I hope if you breed your baby that she has happy and healthy little ones who go to awesome forever homes with your friends.

I feel a little self conscious saying this, but I firmly believe in mixed dogs. I actually believe that there should be more mixed dogs allowed to breed than purebred... but really I believe in outcross breeding... that is breeding Dog A to Dog B, and then their puppy to another Dog A, and then to another Dog A, and calling that puppy Dog breed A. Hundreds of years of limiting breeding within a breed to only dogs within that breed is really, really hurting their genetic chances of less health problems.

I love Sophie, I love that she's a rattie, but when it comes down to it I prefer mixbreeds because they are generally healthier. The only thing that I think are good about purebreds is you know what they should look/act like... however, every dog is different and there are lots of purebreds dumped because the dog didn't meet person's breed expectations (most of the time skewed-- a classic example is people see Eddie or Wishbone and think all JRTs are like that). At least you know you'll be surprised with a mutt and therefore are more open to surprises.

I know nothing about breeding so I have no advice to give you. All I am going to say is that I find it offensive that you would title a thread "I'm so tired of dumb people" and then further explain that you are referring to members of this site. First of all if you read the rules of posting it clearly states that insults will not be tolerated. I would say that calling people dumb is definitely an insult. Secondly, even if it wasnt a rule on here, it certainly doesn't seem like a good way to get any positive feedback or advice. It almost seems like you are trying to upset people. hmmm...I have alerted the moderators of this thread as I thought it the best way to handle it.
I am sorry that you felt attacked in your first post but it has been taken care of. There have since been rules posted regarding this topic as you probably saw because Lance (the site owner) directly replied to your previous thread to alert of the new rules about breeding topics.

If that's how you feel about the people of this site then leave! I don't understand why you would want to be a part of if, especially after you title your thread like that. All some people were doing was trying to give you advice, however it wasn't the answers you wanted to hear so you act like this?? I told myself I wouldn't waste my precious time replying to your posts anymore...but this one takes the cake!!! Who are you refering to as "DUMB PEOPLE"??? I've always felt that if you don't care for someone on this site to simply ignore them and don't read their posts...so that is what I'm doing to you after this... I have been a member of this site for a year and a half and consider the people on this site friends...caring, loving rattie lovers! Please take your attitude some place else because we don't need it here!! I come here to relax and have fun with the other members not to be called "DUMB"!

I have nothing against folks who want to breed their dogs, as long as they have homes for ALL the resultant puppies in advance of the breeding, and are willng to take on the work and expense of producing a litter. I doubt the OP has had to pony up the funds to get tails docked, dew claws removed, shots, worming, unexpected medical expenses of complications of whelping and nursing for the mother, etc. Maybe she should consult with her parents who know the true costs (if they indeed are breeders) to see if she can shoulder those expenses.
Oh, to be 17 and know what I know now!

As far as I am concerned my dear friend Sue can say anything she wants to here. I have total respect for her and have known her for years.

Yes the Rat Terrier is of mixed breed origins as are all of the established breeds. We were ONLY recognized in 1999 by the United Kennel Club. Breed standards were set, no more out crossing allowed period. We are still looked down upon by many of the older breeds as a mixed breed, so yes we take offense when someone posts such a message.

Also the numbers of chi/terrier mixes already in the shelter system is staggering. This young person needs to grow up and see things as they really are.

The ONLY reason that a chi may be introduced in the RT is for MONEY, they want a toy dog. The Chi is not a foundation dog in this breed, it's use to to quickly breed down size for MONEY. Sad thing is they can register them as pure bred dogs with UKCI or CKC.
