I am new to this forum. My family recently lost our much loved furbaby Cocoa in a very unfortunate accident. She was a fun loving, very active Papillon. She was the most perfect little sweety BUT the only problem we had was HAIR HAIR HAIR!  So after lots of reading and visiting with a few people who I met through different friends who own either toy or mini ratties we collectively decided as a family that this would be our next breed.

I have real issues with transporting pups very long distances. Maybe I am just being a fruit cake about this but is that really safe? I read the post before where a breeder in Florida was suggested but wanted to get some real opinions about this form of transportation first. I'd really love to be able to pick my new furbaby up from the breeder so we can get to know each other and I can understand the type of environment my baby had been raised in up to that point. As I have two children, 6 & 11, socialization with people of all ages from an early age is very important to us.

If anyone knows of a breeder of the toy or mini variety in my area (MD, VA, DE, PA, or NJ), please let me know.

Thanks for reading.....

We are in Pittsburgh.  My friends have a rat terrier from a harrisburgh breeder, I'll call to find out.

You will love the brred, very versatile, cuddle when you want, hike or play when you do.

Shipping of small animals by air is not dangerous or tramutizing. I've shipped many a baby goat even coast to coast without incident. If you see what you want out of state, speak in more detail to the breeder. Ask if he tests for common genetic defects. If he actually hunts vermin with his ratties, all the better.
