Nitro aka Skippy contiues to grow as a social doggie! This was his 3rd or 4th week in Flyball class and he has already surpassed my two other ratties who have been training for months. He just really seems to have a knack for it and seems to be having a great time. Also, he is really becoming a lot more social. Today, there was not one anxious growl out of him towards humans or other dogs. And that includes BIG GIANT dogs. It's great to see him so relaxed in a public setting like that. He also is doing a lot better with his recalls. Oh and at home, he's gotten to know the little kitty, Zeeza, and of course likes barking at her, but he doesn't act like he wants to kill her, just play with her.

Anywho, thats this weeks Nitro update!

I for one am ALWAYS interested in Nitro updates, Pam. Tell me how I knew that Skippy a/k/a Nitro would be so well suited for his new "job" ? I can't answer that question... just something I felt. Just a gut feeling I had...and I think you felt it too. He has proved us both to be right. However, it's not about being "right". It's about this little dog being given a chance to be the best he can be and fun during the process. Bless you for taking him in.... introducing him to a wonderful new life.... and loving him. When I think that this precious little dynamite of a dog came so close to euthanization.... it sends chills up and down my spine. I love hearing about how he's doing so well. Thank you !

I'm new here. What is the background on Nitro? This caught my interest and I would like to know more.

Nitro, who used to be Skippy, was saved by Ratbone (I believe it was "gwacie" on this site) from a shelter on his PTS day!!!! He was found running alongside a highway. He then stayed with a temp foster mom then stayed with me as a temp in VA for about a month until Pam adopted him and flew him to Arizona thanks to donations and support from friends here on rt.com (esp Nora )
I will try to find old threads on him....hes such a sweet cute boy but had some anxiety that OBVIOUSLY Pam is working through with him like magic!

And I'm glad he's doing so well. Sounds like he's got a great forever home. (I hit the submit button too soon!)

Mary -- Do Trixi and Toa miss Skipp/Nitro?

umm, the first couple days they would look at the door and they really seemed to miss him but theyre over it. I must say though, they have been a bit mroe active with eachother lately. Maybe Nitro reminded them how fun it is to wrestle...that and plus, Toa is skinnier now so he seems to have more energy. I miss him lots though
