Hi I am new here. We have a Rat terrier his name is Stormy. He got his name because we went through so many horrible storms to get him.He is the life of our family. So sweet and playful. He is 2yrs old. We got him after rescuing our first rat terrier through the humane society that died 2 weeks later from Distemper. That rattie changed us forever. We would like to find our Stormy a brother or sister. Probably a sister would work out better. Up to a year old.We also have a cat. We live in Ohio. We would like her to be brown, black and white. If there is anyone in the Ohio area more towards Cinci or Dayton I would appreciate it if you could pass the info along. We prefer not to have one shipped. Thanks! |

You might also try Ratbone Resuces. I think they may have a few available ratties in Ohio right now. You can apply on line at ratbonerescues.com if you are interested in adopting/rescue. There are other rat terrier resuce groups as well that may have dogs in or near where you are. Good luck and thanks for opeing your heart and homes to these amazing dogs! |

hi and welcome!! and bless you for wanting to adopt another rattie....
I have two rescued dogs myself.... Kasey from Ratbone rescues, and Indiana Jones from the defiance shelter, which is approxmately half an hour north of me....
Tracey, i didn't realize that defiance shelter had another rattie.... (i have been avoiding the petfinder, they break my heart and i can't take them all in... )
well, anyways... I do know that the shelter in Defiance is open 7 days a week.... from noon to 5 o'clock.... So if you every want to make a road trip. So keep looking around, go to petfinder.com or check out a couple of the rescue organization, ratbone rescues and new rattitude rat terrier rescue.... if you are within 600 miles from the dog's location, a ground transport can be set up and you would have to do the last part of the transport to pick up the dog. I hope this helps.... and Good luck with your search! |

| I emailed about Prada. I couldnt get ahold of anyone at the shelter in Waverlyl. It is a bit far from us. I am very nervous about getting a dog from the animal shelter. After the loss of the first rattie we said we couldnt do it again. It was just a very hard loss for us. I would rather purchase one from an owner or breeder but we will see. Thank you for all of your help! |

What about getting a dog from rescue? They are completely checked out by a vet before they are adopted out. Here are some rescue groups for ratties: www.ratbonerescues.com www.newrattitude.org www.ratterrierresq.com |

Daisy

|
Location: Ohio
Daisy is 10 years old and weighs 11 lbs. She can be an alpha dog and was on the losing end of one too many battles with an established pack order in previous home. At her foster home, however, she is NOT alpha. Daisy loves meal time and puts on a show of bouncing and squealing until you put her bowl down. She is crate trained and housebroken. Daisy is very sweet and loving. She tends to prefer men to women. Daisy loves her toys and plays with every single one. Daisy loves going for walks and is very praise motivated. She has a pretty good prey drive and will chase cats and other little critters. She is very fearful of kids so shouldn't be adopted to a home with children under age 12. Although she would be a good companion for a home with another small dog, she can be fear aggressive with larger dogs. Daisy has had a rough life and is looking for a quiet retirement home where she can be loved and spoiled, and would be content as an only dog.

Samantha

Location: Ohio
Samantha is a very playful and happy girl. Only 3.5 years old, she is still active and needs a fair amount of exercise, but she also loves to curl up in your lap or next to you and fall asleep. She's funny, expressive, vocal, and likes to give kisses. Sam is a little wary of other dogs at first, but once she meets them she is fine. She doesn't have much experience with cats, but she does have a strong prey drive and would probably chase them if she could. She hasn't been around children very much either, but seems to be okay with them. Sam is housetrained and has had some obedience training. She knows how to sit, stay, come, down, shake, and roll over. She does pull when walking on a leash, however. Sam weighs 16 pounds and she would love to be with an active person or family who has a well-fenced yard for her to run and play in. NOTE: This dog is in our Guardian Assistance Placement (GAP) program, meaning she is being cared for in a home not directly affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and given Ratbone the exclusive right and responsibility to rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for the information provided.

| Having a rattie playmate makes everyon's day brighter, you will find the right one, there are so many available. Ratbone Rescues will try to arrange transport up to 600 miles so you shouldn't limit your search on the site to just Ohio. There are so many wonderful people involved with the rescue and adoption operation. |

Each rescue is different. If you have any questions about Ratbone Rescues or the New Rattitude Rescue, we have members here who belong to these organizations that can answer your questions. Let us know if you get a response back on Prada. She is beautiful, and our training moderator, Nora, says this is a great age for a dog, still very trainable, but past that brand new puppy stage and some of the difficulties it can bring. |

By the way Wilson Rescue who is fostering Prada has this information on their website: Adopting a Friend... To adopt from us, you must fill out the required on-line application. If you have any questions, you may email us. Our rescues are housed in various foster homes in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati. Once we receive your application, we normally respond to you within 48 hours. If we have a good match, you are then invited to come over to the foster home/s and see if this is a forever match. We will ask for a vet reference for cat or dog adoption and we will do a home visit to check the fencing if you are interested in adopting a dog. We look forward to working with you! |

Prada is a doll, she reminds me of Alice with her black mask and thin little blaze.
I hope you get her, then we can watch her grow on here with you!! I believe rescuing is so rewarding. |

I am so excited I keep looking at her picture. It is really bugging me lol. We havent meantioned any of this to our kids as we want to find one before we mention it to cut down on the questions. They already have my ap so hopefully I will hear something tomarrow. The foster mom emailed me when I emailed them and told me how sweet she is. She likes other dogs and kitties. She sounds like a perfect match. We are hoping to take whom ever we adopt to Tenn next month to Bark N the Park. That way our son can take Stormy and my daughter can take the girl. |

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!! Good idea not telling the kids, LOL, they'd never stop bugging you They seem to maybe prefer a fenced in yard and they want a vet reference. How old are your kids, sometimes rescues put up a fuss about homes with really young children. |
