..but Madden needs a new home

The situation is as follows: I live with my mother, who just turned 60. She applied for housing/Section 8 about a year ago. She got a letter in the mail saying that she's getting close to getting a place. My boyfriend and I have been waiting for her to move out so we could get our own place "officially" (he basically lives here anyway, he just goes home to get ready for work lol). The place we're going doesn't allow dogs, and the places she would get into don't, either.

I definetly do NOT want to bring him to a shelter. I'm afraid he's going to end up in the wrong hands.. or put to sleep. I really want to know who's getting him so I can make sure he's being well taken care of.

Does anybody live in/know anybody who lives in the Boston area that would give him a good home? He'll be 1 in August, is up to date with all his shots, takes a monthly pill to prevent heartworm, LOVES to play, potty-trained... He can be really annoying at times cos all he wants to do is go out, but he shouldn't be a problem for anybody who has a fenced-in yard!

Pictures:

(This is when I first got him)

I have more if anybody wants to see!

If you are/know anybody that is interested, email me.   darbyrockstar@gmail.com

OMG, poor thing.Sorry this has happened!!  Didn't you just "rescue" this pup from your brother?   Is it possible to move somewhere that is okay with a small dog?  I don't know anyone in the area.....maybe someone will know

Don't know anyone either. Madden is a beautiful dog -- have you exhausted every avenue for finding a place that allows dogs?

Maybe in your area there are a lot of places that allow dogs, but there aren't many around here. I have found a couple places that do allow small dogs/cats so we're going to try and get into one of those.

Good luck finding a place for you and your pup. It is difficult. Lots of places here allow pets, but many don't. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Good luck finding a place!! I know that can be difficult because my daughter and son-in-law just went through it (although it ended up that they didn't have to move after all!) Everywhere they that accepted pets was in an area they did not want to live in (because of distance to work OR because of the neighborhood not being so good) or the pet deposit was much higher than they could afford. Of course, it didn't help that they have 3 dogs....

I hope that you find a place that allows pets! I know how hard it is! I don't live in a very pet-friendly city either. The places that do allow pets are in not very safe areas or have extremely high rent. We finally found a place in a decent area that was pet friendly, but our "landlord" turned out to be a slum lord. Thank goodness we finally bought a house!

A lot of places in Ohio weren't pet friendly, or if they allowed pets they'd ask for a huge pet deposit PLUS pet rent. One or the other people, come on. Now, if a place in Alaska doesn't allow dogs, it won't get rented! Our landlord has had a few properties on the market for more than 6 months, and finally decided to change the pet policy. But yeah, doggies rule Alaska

OMG that is SOOOO true... I love that Alaskans LOVE their doggies!!!!! I think that per capita alaskans have more dogs that any other state...... I for one know I have a zoo!!!!! I think every one of my neighbors has at least 1 dog. Just off the top of my head I know that on my block there are about 30 dogs...... and at least two cats! any way!!! AL:ASKA ROCKS!!!! it reminds me that I loved Europe too for doggie friendly businesses.. you could take your well behaved pup to the local pub or eatery and have dinner with your faithfull friend at your feet!!!! I saw SOOOOOOOO many beutify and WELL mannered K-9 companions in Europe.... and to think of it I dont recall ever hearing of a dog pound there (sure they have them but I just dont recall hearing about it) I wonder if the fact that people take thier doggies to work and every place with them makes thier dogs end up in the pound less frequentl......I wonder if any sociology people have ever done any studies on that....

OOOPPPS I digress... sorry!!! its late up here!

Keep wondering what happened to Madden! Such a little sweetie. Darby hasn't been on in a long time, makes me think that she doesn't have Madden any more? Hope she was able to work it out!

(i used to be registered under "angus & me" but i forgot all my info, so i re-registered. pictures on this new screen name will be added soon. )

i just have to preach because this is my pet peeve ( well one of them, anyway ) number one, animals are not disposable- they are not meant for our whims, only to be discarded when not convenient. number two, this situation is one example where getting a dog - or any other innocent and helpless animal - should only happen once you have determined that you are truly able to take on the responsibility.

i apologize for going off, but the main reason i logged on today was to maybe talk about a rattie i just had to go save from starving....... a person i knew admitted to moving and leaving the poor baby. she had NO BUSINESS with him in the first place - then when it wasnt convenient she left him behind. her son was heart-broken and as she lied to him and told him they could go get sammy back once they got a house i realized she was never going to have anyone go back and get him. she told me her friend was going to "run out there and get him until she could keep him" blah blah blah...

i knew she probably never even asked anyone to go get him, so after 2 days i drove out there and he was still there - skin and bones - no food or water - outside with no shelter for days with severe storms rolling thru everyday - and the baby was still scratching at the door of the abandoned house!! he was still waiting for the &^%@#$ to come let him in or come back for him.

i brought him home to my other 3 dogs and one cat and its a little hectic, but i couldnt leave him there. i told myself i would find him a home but when he looks at me he just looks so hopeful - looking for some kindness - its so sad. but i guess its a happy ending for him anyway... however..... all 3 of my ratties and my cat and my gorgeous aussie are from either the street, the shelter, or someone who just "couldnt take care of them" ..... THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU GET A DOG OR CAT !!!!!
