Hey guys, I'm doing the first lap (St. Marys to Savannah). This is a long transport but we chose not to fly Sorley to his new home as we (I, the new family and the Ratbone Application Coordinator) as we felt it would just be too traumatizing to the little dude. He's just now beginning to recover from whatever neglect and abuse in his past and to put him on a plane might cause a break down in that.

So - if anyone can help get him home we would sure appreciate it!!!

Gosh!  I wish I could help... I really do.  But it seems like everytime I look at these transports the routes are always too far East or West of me.   Ya'll need to travel I-77 more!  LOL!!!  But seriously, ANYTIME a pup can be transported using I-77 PLEASE contact me!

Betsey, I posted this to "Freedom Train". They are a host of volunteers from different rescues that come together to volunteer on transport trains which get dogs to safe shelters or forever homes. They have your itinerary and your contact.

Betsey,

Here is there web address: http://www.freedomtraintransports.com/contact
It has Rhonda's email address. I believe she is the director of this program. You can also go to Ratbones Myspace. They are one of our friends.

I think it is a GREAT idea and I have joined and given a small contribution.

Generally, the train goes from the Southern states to the Northern States. So, I'm assuming there may be an I-95 system heading up North. I'm not sure though. The reasoning it goes up North is because the Southeast is known for a lot of high kill shelters, and up North they are more rescue friendly. That is a SHAMEFUL commentary on us !

WOW!!! Almost ALL the "Sorley" legs filled!! AWESOME!
Sorry I will be gone...would have loved to have helped.

And speaking of Hurricanes and Trop Storms this week....we have "Hard-Hearted Hannah, the Vamp of Savannah" inching her way towards us...that could seriously impact transports that Sunday...please everyone be cautious! Stay safe!

Poor MB and her clan! St Mary's just dried off from Fay....sure hope it skirts all of us here on the Atlantic!

Least I'll be outta here with dog and cat safely in tow...whew!
