Hey folks,

Ratbone Rescues is in need of a home visit for a great potential adopter in Fairmont NC, 28340

This is about 2 hours south of Raleigh, just north of the South Carolina boarder (an hour from Florence, SC.  If you are near enough to help or know of someone who could help us out it would be wonderful.  Please help us find this dog a great new home!

If you can help please message me here or email me at gwaciedotcom @ yahoo.com (remove spaces of course). THANK YOU!

What requirements are needed to do home visits for Ratbone? I am right in that area but I'm not sure what kind of requirements there are for that.

No requirements Christy! They will send you a checklist, it's easy and you'll meet more rat people!!

It's a very important part of the process. You just check items off on the list you get sent and spend about an hour (or more if you're chatty and enjoying the meeting!) talking to the family.

OH Christy it would be super if you could help!!

It's actually pretty easy.  RBR prescreens the applicants via phone and talks to their vet and 3 references so we already have a pretty good feel for what type of person it is etc.  Plus the applicant has also been in contact with the foster home so there has already been a good deal of research on the person to be sure they are a good choice.  The home visit is the last step and confirms all the previous steps.

For the Home Visit we send you the contact info for how to reach the applicant and we also email your contact info to the applicant (whatever you want, email and/or phone or only email).  You set the timing up with the applicant and keep us in the loop.   We supply a checklist form to complete and instructions on how to.  It's really very easy - you just walk thru the home and check off the items on the list (do they have pets, are they friendly, do they have a fence, is it a secret animal horder with 100 chihuahuas in the garage etc etc).  Essentially you are gathering info and confirming what we already have learned via phone.

The whole visit lasts about one hour (sometimes less, sometimes more if everyone is chatty).  It's often a lot of fun and it is a HUGE help to us for finding good homes.

If you think you can help let me know how to reach you (send me yoru email via PM or email me) and I can give you the form and info to review and see what you think!

Bethany, I would love to help. I actually just went to Ratbone and signed up (officially) to help with home visits and travel and the such. I have done the transportation thing before (for sweet little Toa) but never a home visit. I can help just get me started. It's only about 45 minutes from my house.
