I just saw this on the news. Puppy mill was raided in Tennessee (around Nashville, maybe??) There were over 700 dogs/puppies. Has anyone else seen this?? Looks like some ratties were there. Are any being picked up by Ratbones?? Looks like they could really use some help. I'm going to check some more links about it now. Hope they found them all in time... really urks me! |

There weren't any RT's according to the initial report -- black and tan chis, Yorkies, ShihTzu's, Poms, etc. They have 200 of them at the Atlanta Humane Society for adoption. The man who is in charge of them there said it was the worst situation he has ever seen. It is so sad. And, the woman running the puppymill had been charged in 1998 (with 195 dogs), but nothing ever came of it. |

| I'm sure there are several different videos on this. One I saw it really did look like ratties, but they were puppies and it was hard to tell. Doesn't matter what breed they are -- just such an awful situation. Really breaks my heart. |

I'm not sure if any are Ratties. I know that over 100 rescues were brought to the SPCA in St. Peterburg. (next door to Tampa) It will be several weeks before these pups will be up for adoption, (if ever). Most were never socialized with people. Gonna be hard for these pups! |

I've been following this on the news, since it's close to me (Hickman County, TN). As I understand it... there are no rat terriers. On this morning's news, there were people totally lined up wanting to adopt these dogs. It appears that these dogs will be up for adoption following vet checks. Evidentally, based on the following comment posted in one of the articles...this woman has been doing this since 1998 and has been in trouble numerous times before. "Clearly...Hickman County seems to be the place to go to run a puppy mill or possibly many other things????? While everyone wants to slam this woman...(and I think you should)...Take a minute to also slam the Government Officials (and I use that term loosly) that have repeatedly half heartedly addressed this woman and these deplorable conditions. This has been going on since before 1998 that the County knows of.Today she has twice the amount of animals she did when they first became aware of...seems puppy milling is profitable when the Government of Hickman County continues to fail these animals. I can only pray these officials are better at protecting the children of this County. This is an unbelievable SHAME...but make sure your blame also goes to the very people who have repeatedly turned away and closed their eyes to this. Please keep this in mind during your next elections. It is said people who abuse animals will most likely abuse children eventually...I say People who continue to allow animal abuse will eventually allow child abuse!" There were various breeds of dogs.. not just one breed... as is the case with many puppy mills. I had already decided... (hubby or NO hubby) that if there were rat terriers, I was headed to Hickman County to rescue them. But when I researched it... I was told there are no rat terriers. Doesn't make it any less traumatic for the other breeds though. Makes me sick....and sad....and when I watched the video, and watched it on the news... I about lost it. This is supposedly one of the largest puppy mill raids in the country.... :=( |

Nora,
I give you credit that you can even watch the videos. I have read the article but will not look at picutures or video. I know what it all looks like and images already haunt me. It makes me feel so sick to my stomach that these things are going on in other places, which means there are "govenment officials" failing there too. If dogs could vote I bet it would be different.
