That is so sad about the puppies.  At least they were well taken care of their last few days on Earth.  How is Momma Dog doing without her babies?

This poor little mama was never taken care of before the birth and then dumped by the breeder.  And a kill shelter is no place for newborn puppies...they never really had a chance but the RBR volunteers who tried to save them are true heroes.

Please - let this be a warning to others to spay and neuter your ratties!!

Thank you all for your thoughts and concerns. It was a tragic situation for sure. The two puppies that we had upon arrival that did not survive were buried together, yesterday afternoon in the front yard under the bottle brush tree. Placed over them was a new yard statue that I picked up Friday night (cause it was soo cute and on sale) with a boy and girl on a swing holding a dog. It was a lot of work but would do it again in a heartbeat, hopefully with a better outcome. Momma Dog is doing well, happy and super sweet. My friend went with and the mommy took right to her. My friend has put in an application to adopt her. She became very attached after going with on the transport, to the ER vet twice and spending the night to help care for mommy and puppies. With all that she was granted naming rights - she wanted to name her Molly, so Molly it is.

Hugs, Kelly.  I'm just catching up and I'm sorry to hear about the babies.  Please know there was nothing you can do - they died due to another person's neglect. You did all you could to save them. They knew they were in safe and loving arms when they passed. That's what matters. Hugs.........

Your friend has made my day!  Miss Molly really deserves a great forever home.  Tell your friend that she has gone the extra mile for her, and she will be repaid a hundred times over.

I cannot tell you how crushed I am to get this sad news.  I had 4 living puppies with me just 2 days ago.  The mama was nursing them and they were attached to her.  Her nipples were HUGE.  I had no idea that she didn't have any milk.  I wish there was something I could have done to have saved them.  I did give her water when I picked her up and when I passed her on to the next transport.  She did have really bad liquid poop, but Paula said that was normal after the Mama eating the placenta's.

I'm just so sad.  They were precious little babies.  I'm not telling my kids that they died or they will think it was their fault.  I did let them hold a couple of them while I had the Mama out drinking and peeing.  Poor little babies and poor Molly.  She was very attentive to them and was laying there letting them nurse...or at least that is what we thought.  I'm sure she was sad to lose her babies.  I'm so glad she found a forever home, she was REALLY sweet.

I'm just still so terribly sad.  I was elated to help and now I see I was really not much help at all, except for the Mama.  At least she'll have a chance to be happy.

Carol, everyone did the best they could. It's very sad. I'm glad Molly has a new fan who hopefully can adopt her and give her a good life.

Carol, these things happen and it's nothing  you could have done or didn't do differently. At least for their last little time here they were with people who cared and now Molly has a home. You did a very good thing.

I know, but I feel like I should have seen the signs that they weren't getting milk or that Mom was severely dehydrated.  I swear she seemed happy to be with us.  I don't know what I could have done differently.  It was just an hour or so that she was with me.  I WAS concerned that she had the runs and so many fleas, but i didn't realize her milk wasn't there.  I"m going to be more attentive next time.  I will help again and I am glad that Molly has found someone to love her.  She has had a hard time.  Poor baby.

Carol - you did a great job!  They needed to be rescued and with your help that was possible.  These poor darlings needed us before they were born, but that wasn't possible.

Good job to everyone who helped in some way.

We did all we could.
