Morgandy, my little foster rattie, has a particular place out at the very back of our yard that she prefers to potty in. For the last couple of days she's been distracted out there and I've heard some some creature bumbling around in the brush (there's a big ditch and then rr tracks behind our house). Well, yesterday afternoon I had her out there and she went nuts...there was a huge armadillo right on the other side of the fence! He looked like he was moving into a burrow in the ground (do they burrow??). This guy was bigger than little Morgandy! He wasn't scared at all, he kept working on routing or whatever he was doing. He even came up to the fence to get a closer look at Morgandy...she, of course, lunged at him. I do believe she would have gotten him if the fence hadn't been in between. Later on the rest of the pack was out and again Mr. Bumbles was fumbling in the ditch. This time he was rather intimated by 5 dogs after him! (Loco was uninterested...if it don't run she ain't chasing!)
Then this morning I took Morgandy to the vet to have her RBR microchip inserted. She met a HUGE Doberman in the waiting room, he was a little overweight and so tall she could walk right under him. She went up to him and licked his face (she had to stand on her tip-toes!). He nudged her as she walked around and under him...he was the sweetest dog! He was there to have some wound on his leg tended to.
I so wish I had my camera for both events!! Morgandy and the Dobie reminded me of Paul's telling how Lucy would lick Dar's teeth.
And as far Mr. Bumbles the Armadillo - he better not bumble into the yard because to see 4 rat terriers working as a pack to catch a critter is amazing! |
