This morning there is a knock at the door and there is a lady standing there with this adorable female JRT. She says "I know you have Jack Russells, is this your dog?" I tell her no and she says this little girs has just been wandering around outside last night and she took her in. Her nipples are huge which makes me think she has puppies out there somewhere. We cannot take the dog into rescue because the owners could potentially sue. The lady (and me) don't want to see her go to the pound because she will get sick and will not get the care she needs. I am working on trying to find her a home and the lady said she can keep her a couple days tops. I don't know what to do. |

Geez. Any chance at all she got out accidentally from someone's home? Have you thought about walking her around the area where the lady found her, as perhaps her pups are somewhere nearby and she will try and get to them? |

| Posters, check to see if she's microchipped, etc. Poor little girl, I hope she doesn't have puppies out there that are still nursing. |

goodness! Sad scenario... I agree - posters, check to see if microchipped... vet can tell if she's nursing pups (sounds like she is). What a shame if she's somehow gotten separated from her pups... Does she look to be well cared for? |

She said she has been walking her all morning and going door to door. I told her to put up flyers and an ad in the paper. She said she is going to take it to her vet and see if they will hold it. She is kind of crazy. I feel bad for these poor dogs, I bet she had her puppies and got dumped. |

She seems cared for, not thin or anything. She had on a flea collar but that's it. |

| How sad. I hope the owners are found, and that it's a loving family that is missing their puppy. Not that I want people to lose their dogs, but it's a much better situation for this sweet girl. |

| Aw Val, thanks for taking care of her one way or another. Did you call the police/animal control/shelters? I have found the owners for more than one stray that way. |

Here is where we are at. She is taking the dog to her vet today to check for microchip. Honestly I don't think there is going to be one. I told her I would make flyers for the neighborhood. She is going to hang on to the dog, or give it to her vet. I told her in order for rescue to take it she needs to do flyers, run an ad in the paper then go get the dog licensed to her so she can turn it into rescue and nobody is then liable. She said that is to much work to try and help a dog, I see her point as well but we have to follow the procedure which she is not understanding. She said she would call me tonight so I don't know what she will decide. UGH, these poor dogs that get lost or let go, I seriously want to strangle some of these people. |

| I know. There are JRTs and little kids living in the house on the corner of my street. On Friday morning we were heading out to do errands and a JRT adult male was loose in the front yard (this is subdivision land not country) and running in the street. So we stopped our car, I went to the door and knocked and 3 little pajama dressed girls came to the window by the front door to look out. I pointed to the dog and said 'is this your dog' and they all nodded. I told them to get their mommy or daddy to get the dog because he was going to get hurt in the road (these kids were under 5 oldest). So they vanish and come back. I ask them if their mom or dad is coming - shrugs. I ask them if this is their dog - vigorous nods. I wait....and wait. We can't capture him, he's barking and territorial. After 15 minutes we finally shrug and give up and try to avoid hitting him as we drive off, figuring to call animal control when we get back if needed. It made us both really frustrated and worried for the dog. Man, if that was one of mine I would have FLOWN outside to get him. Crazy people are so irresponsible. |

That needs to be a bumper sticker.
