Well, I was confused about all the stuff about Zippy... I thought Zippy was the female dog that needs a foster home. Then I saw the pictures of Zippy, and read he is a male, and realized it's not the same dog at all. I'm swift that way... telling boys from girls and day from night and stuff like that.
So I called the number that was posted and got some more info. I spoke with Mary who made the post, but isn't the owner.
Female dog named Sadie, spayed and chipped and utd on shots. She's about 18 months old. Her family is leaving on the 15th will have some temporary housing for a while, and don't think they can handle the hassles and expense involved with taking Sadie with them. So Sadie will need a place to stay before 6/15. Sadie does well with other dogs and cats, but may nip at children.
So Sadie is still out there and the poor girl will be abandoned in a week.
I'm in contact now with Susan with RBR via email, so I think we're ok or at least we are not wheels off yet.

| If there is any way I can help with Sadie let me know. Looks like I'll have a new foster tomorrow as well. The more the merrier. If there is a way to get her here to foster with me I will take her. It's a long way from Texas to Florida but if we can foster her, I have the space. If Ratbone doesn't care, I am more than willing. |

So I've been in touch with the person who made the post, but they aren't the owner. I believe she said the owner's were friends of her son's. I've asked for the phone number of the actual owners, and if I get it, I'll follow through with getting in touch with them and see. I have some concerns and really want to speak to the owners before making any decisions, so I really do hope I can get their number and speak with them directly.

Not gonna burn out Gwacie, I love critters too much for that. And what else is a big yard and house for? LOL I could live in pack easily. Can't help it, want to save all I can, if I can. Well, we're off to get Cricket today. Hey, I've heard having a cricket in your house is good luck, wonder if it's true?
Good luck on reaching the owners Mitch. |

I gots me some goodly news.
I spoke with Sadie's human. She's keeping Sadie and really just wanted someone to care for her while she relocates to Hawaii and get's settled in - for 4-6 weeks. Then, she would return to get her. That would be easy-smeazy and I am way on-board with that, but she's gotten a relative to do this fo her so... problem solved!
I am SOOO HAPPY that Sadie gets to stay with her family (in Hawaii no less!), and she won't need to find a new forever home! I could tell the owner really loved her. She never really wanted to re-home her at all!
This calls for a celebration... MORE CAKE!

Mitch: Thanks so much for the follow up on this matter That's fantastic news. I'm not sure of all hte requirements, etc., but the little I do know suggest that taking a dog into Hawaii is not a simple process. I'm glad that Sadie will be remaining a part of her family (and in Hawaii!!! I'm so jealous ) |

Hopefully, Sadie can opt out of the quarantine. It's apparently imposed to keep Hawaii rabies-free, and if she has proof that she is utd on shots, thay may let her in without quarantine.
From http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/ai/aqs/info :
"Chapter 4-29 Hawaii Administrative Rules, governs the importation of dogs, cats and other carnivores into Hawaii. This law states that dogs and cats meeting specific pre- and post-arrival requirements may qualify for 5-day–or-less quarantine program, which has a provision for direct release at Honolulu International Airport after inspection." |

Let's all keep our collective fingers, toes, eyes, paws, yadda, yadda, yadda, crossed so that Sadie can "opt-out" of quarantine. |
