Stella was found foraging for food skin and bones. When the shelter staff looked at her more closely they discovered that she had a broken jaw that's why she was so skinny. She could not chew any food.
The shelter has a volunteer who also runs a rescue that took Stella in because she was at risk of beng PTS. She was taken to the vet and was told "There is no inexpensive way to repair this." The rescue could not afford much and even a few hundred dollars is astronomical to them. So we were aked to take Stella as we have ahuge netowrk to help Stella. Stella is in pain and can only eat canned food or any mush type of food. She loves to eat but at times shows her pain by rubbing her jaw with her paw.
So I took Stella to my vet and he told me that her jaw was not broke bu tin fact it is possible that she may have cancer OR it is a really really old injury that was never treated and now is incrediably infected and bacteria may be the cause of lots or her pain. The vet is only 35% sure it's cancer. He just really doesn't think it is a break because of the way the X-rays look. I agree there is not clean break but a jaw bone that is wasting away.
All this aside she is a great little thing. She weights almost 8 pounds an is playful and has a great personality. I gave her a nickname of Wiggles because Wiggles up to you when you call her.
Here is are some photos of her. http://imageevent.com/bratgirl/stellaakawiggles;jsessionid=49c3z90b24.zebra_s
