But her story is sad, though getting better....her name is KD.

Pet Photo Pet Photo

KD is a beautiful 1 year old chocolate Rat Terrier with the prettiest eyes I've seen. She is housebroken, kennel trained, gets along well with cats and other dogs. She loves to lay in your lap, go for walks and chase bugs around the yard. She is a very sweet girl and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. Small children in her previous home tormented her daily and caused physical & emotional injuries. She suffered minor back & hip trauma, but she never lashed out. She was so scared she hid all the time, had stopped eating and was losing weight. Her owners were going to euthanize her until we volunteered to take her in. She is better physically and is getting there emotionally. She still needs to gain a couple more pounds and then we will be able to get her spayed. Because of her past, we will not place her in a home with children under 5. She'll do best in a quiet home with people and maybe another companion to help bring her out of her shell. She is still very young and will forget her rough start once she has a home that will protect her. Her adoption fee is $250 and includes spay, vaccines and a Homeagain® microchip with 1 yr. paid lost pet insurance.

She is absolutely beautiful. I wish my hubby would let me get another dog because she would be mine. I dont understand why people have animals and then mistreat them. Why have an animal that they arent going to protect and care for. So sad, but it happens everyday, everwhere. Im glad she is safe now because if she wasnt I would get her whether my hubby said no or not.

She's a beauty isn't she?! I've tried to contact the shelter/organization 4 times now to get some info on this little gal.  No one has bothered to get back to me by email or phone yet!   I live in Oregon and am trying to find out if they'll let people outside of Washington adopt or not.  I'm VERY interested in meeting her if they do!!

As you may know, I'm searching for another female right now as a playmate for Chloe, and currently have my eye on this girl and another, Gidgette, that RBR had pulled from a kill shelter yesterday.   If anyone gets ahold of this place that has KD and can find out if they adopt to people in Oregon, will some one let me know?  thanks!

I seriously hope that family doesn't get another dog. How does this even happen?? I hope when these kids grow up they don't have dogs or it can be a cycle.  I wonder if anyone is pressing charges?? I sure hope so.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

I really want to press charges against this family for animal cruelty, who do I contact first?

I agree, she was mentally, emotionally and physically abused.  The children will probably grow up to be monsters. And those horrible parents that allowed it and then decided to have her euthanized!

I think my Chloe would be very gentle with KD.  Chloe wouldn't hurt a fly- well she'd eat a fly (LOL)  And I think she'd be really good at helping to bring KD out of her shell.  Chloe loves to play and frolic and have fun.  KD would get nothing but love and smooches and would sleep in my bed with Chloe me at our place!!

I still haven't heard from these people.  I sent 2 emails yesterday. Called yesterday and today.  Have no idea why they haven't responded yet.

I'm taking it as asing that she wasn't meant for us - or us not for her.  But,  I think I may have found the one!!   (see thread about Battle Mountain Nevada under Rescue).  The problem now is getting her and getting her to us in Oregon.
