I received an email from ft worth shelter today asking if i was going to pick up lady!!!! I had been told she was put down...she was no longer on their web site and the lady that answered when I called she was gone.... OMG!!!  [script removed]  I can hardly type this!!! soooo in a super slick move (not really) i made an agreement with my husband (he wants me to loose weight) - we agree'd on a weight loss goal for my first weight in for him on may 22nd...and as long as i keep my weight loss promise to him he will continue to support my desire to foster... soooo i pick up this girl saturday ... assuming ratbones can work with me of course.. i'm not a TRUE foster mom - i am GAP (guardian angel program) so there is some favors to be done in order for me to be able to get funding for her HW treatment, vet check, etc.  i'm just estatic... i cant believe this sweet girl has eluded the needle for so long.... she is COMING HOME SOON!  Hopefully she will make it thru HW treatment and thru ratbones will find a wonderful forever home :-)  wish me luck!!!!

Well, I did see a picture of you when you met with PamWh before the TN meet up.  YOU looked just gorgeous and thin!  I remember thinking, "Wow, she has beautiful red hair and she's so thin!"

I'm happy to hear he wants you to be healthier...most men say stupid stuff so glad you saw past it.

My hubby has been known to make comments that got him in a heap of trouble...later he would say that he still didn't get why I was so mad...

I am so happy about Lady...  you'll have to post lots of pictures of her.

Hey, whatever it takes, right? As long as you don't loose too much weight!
I'm so glad Lady is going to have a chance, I was upset when i read that she didn't make it out of the shelter. Something about her just says "pure love"!

Oh, I thought that was you!!  LOL  Sorry!  Okay, I need to lose 40 lbs myself... and there are FAT pictures of me all over this site...

So, I like honesty too...  I thought you were very thin (Rhonda) and your hubby asked you to lose weight.  I'm sure you are beautiful too...

Way to go getting Lady... yes, anything it takes, huh??

I'm so happy for Lady!!
I'm glad your husband is concerned for your health. The first time I read that, I thought, what a jerk!! I'm glad you clarified! But men do not know how to phrase things the right way. Something tells me that no matter how a man phrased weight loss, we'd still be upset.
Good luck!!!

I hear ya - dont worry if i thought his expectations were unreasonable he would know all about it - i have a mouth that can go with my hard head if need be - but he is right - i will be happier and healthier once i am not dragging around the extra weight.. and what an incentive... i'm still floating..... ratbones is working to get me set up to foster her so hopefully this girl will have a bright future ahead. i will have to put her in my daughters old stroller and take her for "walks" since she cant be active for up to 6 weeks after treatment...

Oh, I'm so glad the first lady was mistaken and she was not put down. I agree she looks like a very special rattie...much like Cali Perhaps it just wasn't her time and she has a purpose to fill?

Would they authorize pretreating the heartworms with doxycycline.  It's a 30 day treatment, supposed to kill the Wolbachia parasite that lives inside the heartworm, lessens the adverse effects on the body and greatly reduces the chance of adverse reaction during heartworm treatment. (info taken from the link below)

I'm sure there's a special place in heaven for people like you who do so much to save these innocent babies and give them a chance to go to the loving home they deserve.

Morning! You would not believe - my husband actually asked me when i was bringing her home.... maybe he is softening.. however i did work my butt off last night (kept to my calorie schedule, NO food or milk after 7pm and walked my dogs, my daughter and 2 neighbor kids a few miles then when my husband got home i ran/walked for almost an hour (however part of it i ended up meeting a new lady in the subdivision and chatted for a while - dang my chatty self!!) so i really think as long as i keep up my end of the deal he will be civil about the whole thing. I'm waiting to hear back from ratbones if they will cover HW treatment since i'm not technically a foster but they are trying to get it paid under guardian angel program... soooo hopefully she will let me know today. OH< thank you for the HW info - I will check it out... i'm new to HW treatment so any info helps.... i know more about demodex now then i ever wanted to know!! hehe... cali/daisys mom emailed and they just LOVE her - they say she is even more of a love bug then their ratty (which i already knew).. and she goes to their vet this morning so hopefully her skin scrape will come back low numbers again... ok.. gotta get to work.. just wanted to say HI...

What wonderful news that she was spared!!!  What are you doing for the weight loss?  I did the Weight Watchers program and lost almost 60 pounds - I'm not pregnant but have only gained about 17 of it back so far.

karen G - i sent you a pm - i need some advice :-) for the other icky question - hehe - i'm just sticking to 1300 calories a day, no eating after 7pm and run/walking nightly (last night my bulldog got a mile walk - i about had to carry her back, my lab got a 1 1/2 hour walk (finished at 10:15pm) and talley got a quick 1 mile walk - which was not near enough for him so he gets walked first tonight. i picked up a few free weights but my arms thought that was a bad idea so maybe i will re-think them tonight :-)
