Dogsindanger.com is a great site...they work in conjunction with shelters across the Nation and get out to the puclic, the dogs that are on the death list.

This guy is in Franklin Ga....

I emailed Paula about this one. I am not certain where he is in NGa.

Dogsindanger.com is a GREAT site...the two people who started it did this to bring awareness to people...and work with the shelters.

Even "No kill" shelters are caught between a rock and hard place...how can they, humanely, keep a dog in a cage for months and months, with no fostering?

This is their statement on shelter euthanasia...

OVER 4 MILLION DOGS DEAD

Nobody who works at an animal shelter wants to kill the animals that are brought in for shelter. They do it because they see no alternative. They indeed see it as a necessary evil preventing the suffering of millions of animals that would otherwise be abused, neglected or abandoned to starve on the streets.

Shelters across the country accept 6-8 million dogs each year. The inflow of animals is far greater than shelter space, and the shelter resources to find new homes. Shelters that euthanize dogs do so because they believe that warehousing the dogs is not in the best interest of the animals. Every animal deserves a decent quality of life, and living in prison cages over the long term does not support this principle.

People who work in shelters want to help animals - they should not be required to take on the job of killing the creatures they love most. This terrible burden is unfair to shelter workers everywhere who care deeply for the animals and desire to nurture life not destroy it.

They have no choice.....without fosters, they cannot keep dogs months and months, thus turning away hundreds more....

Paula is overwhelmed....they have only 2 volunteers and 100's of "help mes".

I emailed that shelter to see if he could be sponsored to buy him time...doubtful...it's a county animal control..they usually don't have alot of time. Space.

Maybe another rescue group in that area can pull him....

small dogs adopt out well when happy looking....

I found out it is in West Ga...near Alabama...

Anyone in that area???? Anniston-Ga area?

Oh well....sad. They are ALL sad.... like Nora said....how do you cope?

I wish I could help but I am all the way up in MI. I was just looking around petfinder and found another rat terrier in LaGrange, IN at a county shelter which is about an hour and a half from me. They have a "no pull fee" for rescues. But it is a county shelter so they will euthanise.... It is so sad and just breaks my heart!

Sorry Yogi's Mom I think my email wasn't clear.  I have 2 volunteers who scan the Georgia shelters online and keep track of them for me.  So they follow up with the shelters and get the scoop.

I have 5 full foster homes and some have more than 1 rattie so we are at max capacity right now.

I think most states are like this right now so we can only do so much.  We do what we can, but have to put our hands up when we cannot.  =( (Insert pouty face here)

Thanks for trying your best.

It sounds like it is probably a couple of hours from me.  I could pick him up, but my hubby has laid down the law on no more dogs...for now!  I could pull him and transport him if someone can take him.

That is WONDERFUL news if you mean that guy in Franklin??? I just got on my computer and there was an email from the Animal Control director...she didn't mention he was adopted. YAY!

I was at the point of calling and paying his full fee if someone would go get him...

I am so glad...he had only a few days left...

I spoke to the shelter last week and the shelter director told me he was adopted.  It really made me happy, too, as all of our foster homes are full.

Patti! That is great!

I noticed he is still on the "Dogsindanger" euthanasia site...and I emailed Naylene and tried calling, to no avail. So thought it was odd. Glad he made it out!

maybe they just haven't updated their website, but I did call last week and was told he was adopted.  I even gave the number and I described him and they said he was adopted.
