Council Bluffs is on the far west side of Iowa, so it might be more likely to fly her out of Omaha. That's where Steve took Henry to fly to Maryland.
Maybe if Steve and Diane can do the legwork, we can help build a pot to pay for it?

I'll have a talk with the boss when I get home from work and see what she has to say. One way or the other I'm sure we can get her pulled on short notice if needed.

I live in Lincoln, NE which is about an hour from Council Bluffs. I can help with pulling or vetting too if necessary. Omaha would be the way to go as far as flying her out.

Could we name her Lady for now?

I can contribute monetarily, but because I am all the way in TX, I don't think I would be any help with transport.

I am planning on running over to the shelter where Lady (I Like that name for now) is being held on Saturday. Would like to get there sooner but it seems they don't have the most convenient hours of operation. I will report back then on her disposition (Her health, personality, condition of the shelter she's in etc) and we can go from there. Was someone interested in taking her? I can get her pulled from the shelter and get her into the vet for a checkup and certificate if needed. Will also get her on a flight if we can fly her out of Omaha. I do monitor the Omaha shelter regularly. I've seen quite a few Ratties there and they seem to get adopted pretty quickly and the shelter isn't usually too overcrowded. I have no experience with the Bluffs shelter so not so sure how safe she is or what that facility is like.

Steve: YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!!!

dnorton - mimzy's mom, is willing to take her in. She is in Georgia. I think the Atlanta airport being relatively close.

I don't believe there are any direct flights that I can see from Omaha to Atlanta, so "Lady" would likely have to do a connecting flight, though I don't think there should be any temperature issues yet anywhere.

Would Lady Bianca de Iowa do better at the Omaha shelter? Would there be a chance of her getting adopted there? I still want her, but if there is a chance that she could be adopted in Omaha, it would save travel, etc. Keep me posted.

Well I wont know anything until Saturday. Like I said, I know nothing about the Bluffs facility but plan on snooping around a bit and asking questions on Saturday.  I know Omaha's shelter is very nice but not sure what their policy is on transfering animals from one facility to another. I know when we flew Henry out to Baltimore, he had a stopover in Houston and he got to his destination just fine. Continental has heated cargo bays so you may want to check them to see if they can get her to Georgia.

I imagine Lady B would be best not in any shelter as she must be scared and confused, though I do wish perhaps we could find her a forever home more close to where she is now.

Regarding the rescue in Ga...I haven't been approved as of yet. Someone mentioned GAP. I can take either the GA rescue or Lady B. I am not able to take two at this time. Ya'll let me know which would be best.

Steve, does Fredo need an older sister?

I would love to get Fredo an older sister or brother but right now the time is just not right. We have an older (18 yrs) cat that has been with Deb since she was a kitten. We figure this will probably be her last summer with us and we want her to be as comfortable as possible in her remaining time with us and introducing another Rattie would be a bit much at this time. Eventually I do hope to get Fredo a sister or brother but as of now, we have 4 cats and Fredo so we currently have out limit of fur kids at this time.

I just looked at her picture again. Does it look like she has cataracts or is that just the flash from the camera?

I was thinking that too Pam but the shelter never said that when they emailed them so I thought it must just be the pic?

I just called on the GA dog and he has been adopted, so you don't have to choose between rescues.  Personally, I hope that someone closer to Lady can adopt her because I think the long trip may be a lot on the old girl.  But, she may be just fine traveling.  Flying would be better than staying in dog pound.  I hope something works out for her!  Poor old girl.

I hope this all works out. I'd love to take her, but we have one pet in our apartment that our landlord doesn't know about already, so 2 would not be good. Lady is a lovely name for her. I'm sending good vibes lady's way.

There is another one there now

#4103 (He needs a name! Maybe Lord "something" to go with Lady Bianca?)

This cute old boy needs a good forever home. He is about 8-10 years old. He has a lot of personality. He has a limp that has been checked out he is just a little sore.

I'm searching for no-kill shelters in the area that work especially with senior and/or special need dogs and trying to put together an email for these two ratties to see if maybe we can't at the very least have them placed in a better, safer facility.
