Jak came from Wisconsin. He was with a husband and wife for a few years and he was their baby. The marriage ended, however, and Jak stayed with the husband. The husband got a new girlfriend who didn't like Jak (jealous I think) and Jak wound up being crated in the basement constantly. The wife didn't know of Jak's situation until someone told her, and she was furious. She wasn't in the position to take Jak back, so she contacted Ratbone. They flew Jak from Wisconsin to me in NY and Jak came into fostercare.
Jak's nails were so long, they were like pins and starting to curl. I couldn't believe that this sweet little boy went from being this couple's everything to being kept crated in the basement!! It was very sad.
The first night Jak was with me, we were going to bed... and he kept on trying to cuddle in the nook of my bent legs under my butt. I kept moving him saying.... "uh Jak, that's not a good idea...that can be a very dangerous place" and he just crawled back there....... I must have moved him 5 times until finally I left him there and said "OK, you were warned..."
Well, about an hour later, I let one rip...... (passed gas LOL ) and poor little Jak just flew out from underneath the covers of my bed onto the floor barking his brains out..... bowwww wooow woooow woooow wooooow..... I think I peed myself from laughing so hard.... but from that point on, he never went back under the blankets!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA poor little Jak!!!!!! I warned him!! From that point on, he never went back under the covers and was perfectly content sleeping on top of the bed curled up in a blanket far away from me LOL
Jak was adopted by a wonderful family in Wisconsin (funny how that worked out, isn't it? He came from Wisconsin and went back there) who was a previous adopter from Ratbone. They simply adore him. His new Mom and I keep in touch after all this time still. In an email she had once stated how when she first got Jak, he didn't like sleeping under the covers. I just laughed to myself... I just couldn't bring myself to tell her the fart story, so I said... oh....
FINALLY I think after 3 years or so I told Jak's Mom the story. I was relieved to see that she found it as funny as I did LOL!!! Jak was a sweet boy who was a victim of circumstance, and now is living the good life with his new family and 2 fur brothers!!
I tried to post Jak's pix, but wasn't able to. As soon as it works again, I'll post some pix of him. |
