Little Joe's photo album: http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/littlejoe
Little Joe was turned into the Humane Society by his owners because they were getting a divorce. Seems like a lousy reason to dump a loving dog who they'd had for two years. He's 2 years old and 11 pounds.
Joey spend over a month in a small cage, first at the HS, then Animal Control. Poor little guy! But he's proven to be quite resilient and, other than peeing in his crate, he shows no long-term baggage from his days in the slammer.
Little Joe is a calm, sweet, affectionate soul. He absolutely loves attention and affection and will stand very still as long as there are hands petting him. He jumps up to fill a lap as soon as we sit down. Then he snuggles down and sleeps. He loves to be picked up and held and doesn't mind when we put our faces smack against his. He gives sweet little kisses to our nose.
He loves being inside, lounging around on the sofa. He plays with toys.
Other than peeing in his crate when nobody's home, he's never had an accident in the house! Hey, I can easily wash crate towels. Having a dog who doesn't mess in the house is heaven!
He loves people! Anyone who shows him any kindness is considered a friend. He gets along with other dogs, but doesn't like them in his face. He stands his ground and is quick to let another dog know when they've crossed a boundary line. He's learning to temper this tendency.
He's a great little dog! We'll learn more about his personality in the next week or two...so check back on his photo album for updates!
If Little Joe is not adopted in the next few weeks, he'll be going to the Rat Terrier Jamboree!! So you can meet him there if you might be interested in adopting him.
