Available Dogs
Duke
Adopted!!
2008-03-11
|
Location: Alabama
Duke is a friendly, happy, 11-lb., 1 ½ to 2 year old boy who was found running in traffic on a busy street. He loves people and warms up quickly when meeting new people. Duke loves human attention and sitting in laps. He also likes being picked up, where he¢ll snuggle in real close and still so you¢ll hold him until your arms give out. Duke gets along well with the other dogs in his fosterhome and plays well with them. He went on a visit to the home of five kids and was friendly to them, but more interested in the sights and smells of the house than the kids. He has not been tested with cats. He plays with toys; his favorites are stuffed toys that he can toss and de-stuff. Duke is smart and loves to learn new things. He is clicker trained and he gets excited when he sees the training treats come out. He rides well in the car, is housetrained, crate trained, and walks well on leash. Duke is happy to be active along with his people, yet is just as content to lounge on the sofa when things are slow. For more info and pictures of Duke, click here .

Willy
2007-09-28
|
Location: Kansas
Willy grew up in a puppymill that was closed down by the state, and all the dogs were seized and sent to shelters. Willy couldn't be adopted because he was scared of everything so he came to rescue in hopes he could learn to trust people and be someone's pet. It has been a long road for “Wild Willy” and he still has a ways to go. Willy doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. Even when he was cringing at the back of his crate and his foster mom had to crawl in to drag him out, he never displayed aggression. His feet were damaged by growing up in a wire bottom cage, so he is not up to long distance walks. He finds being outside scary, but he is OK as long as a person is with him. Willy is fairly housebroken, but left unattended he may still have "accidents." He knows the command "go outside" and will run out the dog door, although he’s usually in such a hurry to get back in that he has to be sent out again. He does not really play with other dogs but does like toys. Willy is around 20 lbs. and 3 years old. He needs an experienced person willing to give the time, love, and patience he needs to become a best friend.

Nitro
2008-04-04
|
Location: Mississippi
Spunky little 11-pound Nitro is almost 3 years old, and really lives up to her name. She loves to run and play, and it's hard to slow her down! When she does decide to be still, though, she is a great cuddle bug. Nitro is mostly housetrained, but she will sometimes submissively piddle if she is nervous. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night. She has never been leash-trained, so her new owner will need to work with her on that. Nitro is looking for a home with an active family or individual who can provide her with plenty of opportunity to release all her energy. Other dogs are fine, but they should be younger and willing to play long and hard. Nitro has never been around children, and would probably be too much to handle for kids under 12 since she can be nippy in play when she is excited. She hasn't been around cats much either, but likes to bark at them. If you are looking for a young, smart, sweet bundle of energy to share your active lifestyle, then Nitro is the girl for you!
Note: This dog is a "Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning she is being cared for in a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibility to rehome her, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for the information provided.

Kilo
2008-03-18
|
Location: Michigan
Kilo is a ten-year-old female. The day after Christmas her family decided she was getting old, so they took her to a shelter to be put down. When the shelter folks saw what a nice little dog she was, they contacted Ratbone Rescues. Good thing, because Kilo has a whole lot of living and loving left to do! She is house and crate trained. She is good with other dogs and cats. She likes kids, but because of her size and age, she would do best in a home without children under 10 years old. She likes to play outside and she loves to chase squirrels, but when she is done, she really enjoys a nice lap to cuddle up on. She likes to ride in cars and enjoys a good walk. Her favorite place to sleep is right next to you! Kilo only weighs 13 pounds, but she will fill your heart and home with tons of love for many years to come.

Cyndee
2008-01-12
|
Location: Florida
Cyndee is 4 years old and weighs 16 skinny pounds. She is good with all the dogs in her foster home, from pups to seniors, but prefers people and would be fine as an only dog. She is particularly loyal to her fostermom and stays near her, and she likes to snuggle with her fosterdad and play hide and seek with him. Kids age 8+ are fine, but Cyndee enjoys her quiet time so probably wouldn't thrive in a home with younger children. She's good with cats. This quiet, calm, girl has good manners, is bright and eager to please, but a little timid. She's not completely housebroken (we suspect she was an apartment dog because she uses puppy pads and newspapers to potty) but she will go outside if the doggy door is open, and she can be left loose inside the house for several hours. She loves car rides (although occasionally gets sick on bumpy roads) and leash walks. She doesn't need a fenced yard as she is a true indoor dog. This nice, undemanding dog has the most amazing coat color: very dark chocolate with a pearlescent overlay. For more pictures, please clic

She sure is cute! No kids or cats for her so that is two strikes for us. LoL I really like Wally on page 4... but I don't think hubby would be very happy if I brought another dog into our already small house. hehe!! Maybe if I get a really small one he wouldn't mind.......... |
