So hubby and I have been talking about how we already love this breed and may be willing to get another (slightly older) rattie.  We found "Pebbles" at a local shelter.  Hubby and I are talking about adopting her but aren't 100% sure.  The shelter she is in doesn't give them much time before they put them done.  They know nothing about her, she is a stray...  If hubby and I decide not to get her is there anything else we can do to keep her from being put to sleep??  I think she is a mix but not completely sure....

She is very cute!! What about fostering her in your home until you are able to find a good home for her? You have to do what is best for you.

Sarah, I thought about that... but than I am not sure I would be able to let her go! hehe The adoption fee is only $25 so we wouldn't be out much money if we took her in but adopted her to someone else... We are actually friends with the guy who runs the shelter (it is a county shelter) so we may be able to get her for nothing at all.

Wow, she is really cute! I love the white face!  I would go there and test her temperament.  ie, food aggression, compatability with other dogs and introduce her to your daughter and rattie pup.  She looks like she may be a mix, but she is adorable none the less. If she passes all your tests then why not bring her home?  I mentioned the food aggression mainly b/c I noticed you have a small child and that is something to consider.  I would definitly go and have a look and play with her for awhile Good luck and keep us posted.

That would be nice. Take a few treats with.

I just heard on NPR radio that some 11 year old kid from Allegan corrected a major exhibit at some Natural History Museum about Era's. It has been wrong since 1981. Heard it yesterday on the news. The kid was on the radio. He sounded like a professor. LOL

Do you know him? He also commented on the letter they sent him they spelled his name and city wrong. Guess that's why I remembered it.

Give us a shout out if you need help saving this baby. She is really cute. Is she listed as a rat terrier?

More About Pebbles 2688

Pebbles was found as a stray and will be ready for adoption on 4/4. .

Stray animals must be held for a minimum of 4- 7 days. During this time the pets can be visited and an adoption application may be filled out for them. This would give an animal the best chance to be adopted if the pet should not be claimed by its owner. All pets adopted from the Allegan Animal Shelter will need to be spayed or neutered upon their adoption. When you fill out an application for a pet, the Animal Control Officer will give you a spay/neuter form for you to prepay your vet. Bring the form back with you when picking up your new pet. The adoption fees are $25 for dogs and $15 for cats. The shelter almost always has some of each and not all of them make it to Petfinders so you need to come visit if looking for your stray pet. The shelter is open Monday through Friday 8am -11am. Feel free to phone the shelter at 269-673-0519. Thank you for looking at the available pets.
