Dear members,

You may remember that I posted about a month ago about my adopted rattie named Molly.  At that time I made the decision to keep her.  Well, after even more soul-searching I've had to finally admit to myself that she really is too much for me.  We're simply not a good fit, in that her activity level FAR exceeds mine.  I was even hiring a gal to jog with her 3 times a week!

So, I contacted the Franklin County Dog Shelter here in Columbus, from where I adopted her, and they have an in-home adoption program.  This means I can keep her in my home (she's totally safe, and treated extremely well), and they will post her picture and bio on their website for potential adopters to view.

I'll be meeting with them on Thursday, April 3rd to review the whole process while she gets checked out by their vet.

I don't know exactly when her pic/bio will be posted on their website, but I wanted to let you all know that I was doing this in the hopes that someone on THIS website might be interested in adopting her.  If so, you could come to one of the Franklin County Dog Shelter adoption events where I could introduce you and Molly.  Also, by the way, there is another rattie at their shelter named Jim; maybe both could be adopted to keep each other company?  Just a thought...

Anyone interested in Molly, please send me a private message on this site.

Her pic is my avatar   I've taken TWO roles of film of her, and this pic was the only one where her eyes were not bright blue dots!

Thanks so much for all your support!

Wendy and "Molly"

Am I remembering correctly? You have a neighbor with Shiba Inus that she plays with...you took up walking with her? If so, it sounds like you have done your best(IMO). I like how your local shelter handles the rehoming process. Let  us know how things go.

Well, I'm sorry it didn't work out but glad you're keeping her until another home can be found. I hope she finds a good home soon.

In response to Amy's post above, yes, I'm the member with the neighbor who has the Shiba Inus.  We're still having play dates with them as well as with other doggies in the neighborhood.

If you're interested in adopting Molly, (and since I don't see a way to send private messages on this message board), please email me at WJT427COLS@ AOL.COM

Remember to remove the space before aol.

Thanks!

You might also contact Ratbone Rescues and talk to them about their GAP program. That is where the dog stays in your care until a home is found (seems similar o what the shelter is doing), but at least she would be listed in 2 different places. I hope you find a home for her soon, and I commend you for doing the right thing for Molly.

Hi all,

Molly is now on Columbus, Ohio's Franklin County Dog Shelter's website, and available for re-homing.  She will soon appear on ratbonerescues as a courtesy listing.

Here's what the ratbonerescues ad will say (the Franklin County Dog Shelter's website says practically nothing about her!):

Molly is just the SWEETEST girl you will ever meet!  She's a year-and-a-half old, born in October 2006.  She is super affectionate and thrives on her person's attention.  She is high-energy and VERY smart and TRAINABLE!  She would be perfect for someone who walks or jogs regularly or who does agility training.  Crate-trained and house-broken, she knows sit, come, stay, off, and walks nicely on a leash when her person is calm and assertive (like Cesar!).  Fenced-in yard recommended for running and playing with other dogs.  No cats or kids under 12, please.  Molly is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventative.  She is being fostered off-site, and ready for adoption through the Franklin County Dog Shelter in Columbus, Ohio.   You can see Molly on their site at http://www.franklincountydogs.com/adoption/adoptSrch.asp

Today, I attended the "Mingle With Our Mutts" event at the Columbus, Ohio Franklin County Dog Shelter, and a wonderful young couple decided to adopt Molly!   This couple is totally into taking lots of long walks, and jogging(!).  They live in a nice condo community where most of their neighbors also have dogs.  I know Molly will be happy there.
Just wanted you all to know that she's in really good hands
