I'm not sure who this gentleman is, but someone from Ratbones may know. A link to his obituary came up under my daily alert for rat terrier news.
Harold Hall Cadell
Aug. 13, 1912 - March 18, 2008
Native Oregonian Harold Hall Cadell, a resident of Beaverton from 1951 to 2008, died March 18 at age 95.
Memorial gatherings will take place between 1 and 4 p.m., April 5, at the home of Elizabeth Cadell, 11940 S.W. Murphy Lane in Beaverton.
Born Aug. 13. 1912, in Oregon City, Mr. Cadell lived in Friend and Multnomah as he was growing up.
He and his wife Elizabeth, whom he married in 1940, lived most of the time at 8250 S.W. Sorrento Road, and when they moved there the road was just a little gravel road. They built their home and it still stands on the corner of Sorrento and Davies roads.
During World War II Mr. Cadell served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific, stationed in the Philippines.
He worked for many years for Clark Equipment Company, finally retiring as a service engineer. The company sent him to Vietnam for three months during the war there to service the heavy equipment being used to build roads in that country.
He and Guy Carr of Carr Chevrolet used to fabricate parts for Guy Carr’s antique car collection. Mr. Cadell built a great machine shop, where he restored an antique 1927 Chevy Coupe. They were members of the Rose City Antique Car Club and of the Caravaners, an RV club.
Mr. Cadell belonged to the Beaverton Masonic Lodge as a member of the Oriental Shrine since the 1960s.
He and his wife belonged to the First Church of Christ Scientists, which they had helped to build in 1951 and in which they remained members.
They were named Beaverton Good Neighbors of the Year sometime in the 1980s. Their neighbors took up a petition for them as they were beloved in the community and had excellent relationships with all their neighbors.
Mr. Cadell loved gardening and working with stained glass.
Survivors in addition to his wife Elizabeth are daughter Susan Cadell, sons Harry and Paul Cadell, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Donations in memory of Harold Cadell may be made to Ratbone Rescues, (www.ratbonerescues.com) a rat terrier rescue organization. |
