I'm really excited about it this year. This is the first year I am doing (or having them done for me really, but I'm going to help a little lol) quilt squares for our Quilt Raffle!!

For some background info, for the last three years Ratbone Rescues has participated in an annual Quilt Project. This has always been a good fund-raiser for us, and has helped to pay many vet bills and shelter fees. This fundraiser is run by Mary Young, who is the Quilt Coordinator.

We are beginning our drive for quilt squares early this year, with the hope that we can gather enough squares to make a KING-sized quilt. Therefore, we are asking all our friends and supporters to help us make this the biggest, most beautiful Quilt Project that Ratbone Rescues has ever had.

This year ALL the proceeds of the Ratbone Rescues Quilt Project will go to Ratbone Rescues, to be used for vet bills and shelter fees. Please help us save more dogs in 2008 by making a quilt square for this fund-raiser.

Quilt squares may be made using applique' or embroidery. Please do not use fabric paint, as not all fabric paint is permanent and/or washable. Please do not use iron-ons, as they can wear off or be washed and/or ironed off (or scratched off by a burrowing Rattie). We want our quilt to last 100 years, and become a family heirloom for the winner!

You need not quilt your squares - that will done after all the squares are put together. This year we would like to have all quilt squares completed and mailed to the Quilt Coordinator (Mary Young) no later than May 30th. Be sure to write to Mary at misyoung@insightbb.com to get on the Quilter's update list. And when you send in your Quilt squares be sure to mark them for the Ratbone Rescues Quilt.

And remember - if you have lost a dog this year you can have his/her name added to one of the Memorial Blocks that will be integrated into the quilt. It's a beautiful way to memorialize a beloved companion - your own or your foster. I submitted my Sasha's name. I am also doing a square in her likeness, along with a few more of my babies.
