Do we have any PA Members?
I am PA State Cooridinator... actually I am the state coordinator for most states in the NE area for Ratbone, and there's a pix of a little girl in a shelter there who's petrified...she's at the Humane Society of Berks County (not exactly sure where that is)...
Here's the email we got from the shelter:
Hello. My name is Tammy Carannante and I am the Kennel/Rescue Coordinator for the Humane Society of Berks County in Reading Pa. Your information was given to me by JRT rescue. We have a female, possible Rat terrier, she is 13 lbs, she is about 3-5 years old and very scared here. She is very nice outside of her run when she gets to know you. She has not tried to bite and we were able to give her a physical exam and vaccines. I will send another email to you with her picture. Thank you for your help.
If we can find a fosterhome for her, is there anybody close who can pull her for us? PA is such a horrible spot for us - it's so barren for us!!

Thanks, Patricia - we may need you. We have 3 possible fosterhomes - our Long Island, NY fosterhome, our Maine fosterhome or she may go to Canada if they have room up there.
I'm waiting to hear from the shelter about her status and if they have someone who could help us out, as well.

| My boyfriends family actually owns a cabin near Williamsport! I've never been but we are suppose to be going there sometime this spring. Maybe our pups can have a playdate! |

I live down here in Georgia now but the countryside near Williamsport really is beautiful, you'll enjoy the cabin. It's just not a good place to live year round because of the lack of employment there.  |

My mom lives in Bloomsburg, PA Columbia County. She has taken in many a rescue dogs and farm animals. She currently lives on a farm with jacks, sheep, goats, cats and a donkey. If some one can get this dog to her, I am sure she would take it in. It's not fancy, but its a farm. Tons of fun vermin to chase. Her jacks are a hunting pack. |

Oh! That just stinks! I grew up right by Berks Co, PA. In fact, I was born in Reading.... Too far away to do anything, now, though. I can't think of any family I have left in the area who would be willing to pull and drive. Bummer!

I remember going to the Bloomsburg Fair each year when I was a kid! That and the fair in Hughesville...I think it was called the Lycoming Co. Fair? Anyway, loved the animals and the food at those fairs. |

I just heard from the shelter. They have spayed the little girl, and they're going to try to offer her for adoption first. Apparently she was petrified, but she has warmed up and is coming around (that's the shelter worker's words)... so I told them if she finds herself in danger of being euthanized, to contact me so we can get her out of there!!
Thanks for all the offers to help!! I will keep you all in mind when we get another PA dog in need!!

Since I dont even have Shemp yet, I dont think that we are ready to foster. But for the future, we live in New Jersey but can see PA across the river from the house. |
