There are five adorable ratties at Roicy in Lafayette, a shelter that still gasses animals instead of injecting them.

Here's the link. Click on adoptable animals and look at these babies in need -- Latte, Sage, Rosie, Daisy and Bosely.

The shelter volunteers haven't done descriptions on the three new ones added to adoption row tonight but two of them have descriptions.

I hope someone can help them. They deserve better.

Oh I hope someone can help these babies. My oldest brother and his family use to live in LA, They lived in New Orleans. .But they've moved.  Now they live here in NC. Maybe  there are people here on the board from LA who might be able to help find these babies homes.

Roicy is one of the shelters that always seems to have a number of ratties, and they are always on very limited time

Oh no. Poor babies! I can't even look. I'm already upset. A local shelter here in Southern California caught fire and 48 dogs and cats perished.

Apparently the shelter was ready to move to a newer facilty but "red tape" had delayed the move. Such a horrible tragedy.

Why do they not outlaw gassing dogs? It doesn't make any sense at all!! These poor babies deserve so much better!! I once watched a video about this and you could not even come close to imagining the suffering!! This is so sad and sick! I wish I could rescue them all!! If I were a dog I would rather scavenge to get food and shelter rather than to die in this manner!! To me this should be considered as cruelty to animals. One day I hope that I will be able to open my own shelter and I can guarantee it would be a no kill shelter!!

This is what really gets me they wont allow us to gas some child rapest but they would do the same thing to an innocent puppy.

I'm a member of the Roicy list serve and am pretty sure I could find someone to pull them, especially if it is through Ratbone. I've put Caroline in touch with folks before.

Hi Milly,

Honestly, the lady who runs Roicy is great and the volunteers who give their time are wonderful, too. Unfortunately, most of the volunteers -- including some of the most dedicated ones -- are out of state. Everywhere from Maryland to Minnesota to Florida.

If you want to see the ratties there, go to this link    http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/LA40.html   and click on "see adoptable animals."

Two were apparently adopted but remain on the site -- Latte and Rosie. Three others remain.

I have a pretty good relationship with the people on the board and know I can get someone to help us if we can figure something out for them. I live in Florida, so I'm not able to just go pull them myself. But I have helped others -- including Caroline with Rabone -- get babies pulled.

Thanks so much for your interest in helping these babies.

Amy

My heart literally hurts. I cannot imagine anything like this happening to my Yaz. What is wrong with people? Not only the pets previous owners. but the people that run these "shelters". If the members of this site are able to pull together to get these dogs fostered why can't they? And what about all the other animals there. God I wish I could help but I just don't know what to do. I am so far away geographically. Financially I am of no use. I just sat down to pay bills this morning and could not figure out how to make ends meet. If it was just me, I would go without but I have 3 kids. Is there anything I can do? Between this and the Crowley TX nightmare I am going nuts! I have to repeat, What is WRONG with people?!

If you want to help these ratties, see my other post on the rescue part of this board. It's called "So far $250 for Roicy ratties."
