This may dumb, but I want to know what the symbol is on the rescue pages. They are not all the same, so must mean something.  Also how long does it take to add notation about whether Rattie has been adopted. I hate to keep filling out adoption papers and then find out It has been adopted or pending.  Two weeks later the Rattie is still there.

I'm not sure what you mean by "symbols", but assume that you're referring to the little pictures to the very left of the post title? These are selected by the person who originally created the post. You can choose a happy face, or frown, or exclamation point, or nothing in which case it just uses the default "symbol".

As for notations being added, that would be up to the original poster, likely, to keep track of it or not, there's not rule or requirement though, and it's not officially monitored.

Do you mean the symbols on like Petfinders pages?
They have symbols that mean "no other dogs" "no cats" "no kids"
I am not sure if thats what you mean!

THE SYMBOLS ARE THE ONES RIGHT ABOVE THE PICTURE OF THE DOG.  THEY ARE SMALL. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THEY MEANT THE SEX OF THE DOG.  THEY ARE A CIRCLE WITH A LINE AND ARROW.  YOU MAY HAVE TO LOOK.  I KNOW WHAT THE OTHERS MEAN.  JUST COURIOUS.
