This little girl is in a shelter about two hours away from me. They have her listed as a beagle, but I think I see some rattie in her. What do you guys think? I'm going to try to contact them and see if I can find out more info on her and hopefully arrange a time to meet her.

| That is no beagle, at least not fullblood. She has a rattie head. Good luck, Sarah, and let us know what you find out. |

I agree with what everyone has said! Question: Why does it seem like shelters ( or whoever ) will list a dog as anything under the moon BUT a rattie? Or is it just me? It seems like they would rather call them "Terrier Mix" than "Rat Terrier". Of course it could just be me venting! |

She's beautiful - at least part rattie for sure! Good luck
And, I agree, Petfinder and a lot of others mislabel ratties A LOT!!! That's why I always run a general search as you never know what they'll have them listed as.
This baby isn't TOO far from you either, Sarah

Rat Terrier
Size: Small Age: Young Sex: Female ID: |

Notes: Terri is a one year old, purebred Rat Terrier. She weights 20 pounds, is housebroken, spayed and up to date on shots. Terri gets along well with kids and other animals. But, like most rat terriers, she can jump REAL high and has lots of energy. Can you give Terri the time and love that she needs??
This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained. This pet has been altered.

| Wow! I just talked to someone at the shelter and she's still available. I told them that I probably wouldn't be able to make it in until Saturday and they said that they could hold her. Now I'm really excited! I don't know if I can wait that long though! |

Cool! She's a cutie.
Oh and Jolene - the shelter thing is why I did a search for chihuahuas...hoping to find one with rattie in them but called a chi or a chi mix! |

| Yes, I'd believe but really she doesn't look chi at all, she's just small. Those tiny Teddies of Sara's all have very rat terrier heads/faces just like Mayfly and Abby (the bigger version LOL). Now Skipper really has a chihuahua head but it seems to be stuck on a rat terrier body....you should see how confused people get who see him when we're out...so many stop and ask me "what kind of dogs are they?" Then, because I'm a perfectionist, I launch into my "well, this one is a purebred rat terrier, these are rat terrier-chi mixes, etc." LOL! |

I don't have to work until 9 a.m. I'll probably end up being late for work, but I don't have any appointments tomorrow anyway. |

No, she looks nothing like a Chi. But like me, before I got Apollo, I never knew Ratties existed.... so just by her size and not knowing about ratties.... I can see where people think Chi.
And I'm like you MB, I'm a perfectionist so I go into my spill of how Apollo is a standard "A" type rattie and Emma is a Toy "B" type rattie! |

I hope so! It's funny because I just found her right after I replied to your post!
Yes, I plan on taking Jerry with me. They encouraged me to do so. They actually are making me a little nervous. The girl I talked to didn't know which dog I was talking about, so I had to describe her. I actually just sent them an e-mail with Darby's picture to clarify. I hope that she actually is still available! |
