Lori, it if were just my decision I'd have said yes in a heart beat (and probably have 30 dogs).

I'm fighting back the urge to try to bring Mr. Biggs home too. And we haven't even picked up Jack (soon to be known as Jake) yet!!

But I empathize with what Adam is going through as well. It's been heart wrenching making the decision to adopt another dog so soon. Chris was the one who kept me going. So I completely understand.

Love, Lori

Have you tried to contact his breeder to see if they would take him back? I know most reputable breeders will take one of their pups back in a heartbeat. Have you tried contacting Ratbone Rescue? I am sure that there is someone with ratbone that is near you and would come and get him. I would gladly take him, but I would have to rehome him pretty quickly because I already have the limit of dogs you can in our city. But I am positive I could find him a great home!! The only problem is that there's no way for me to pick him up. My car has seen better days and I don't really think it would make it all the way down there. If there is anyway that anyone would be able to bring him about within an hour of Springfield, Missouri, I will gladly foster him and find him a new forever home and get him treatment for the worms.

Well, he did it again. He pooped and peed while I was typing up my analysis for government. Not a single sound from this little man. This little thing is a HANDFUL lol. I empathize with mother's who have little toddlers running all over the place with no diapies on. lol

I can't get a crate. I've been trying for the longest I just haven't gotten around to it. They're all so expensive. And I haven't seen a thrift store or goodwill that carries any for cheap. I'll have to get with my mom to see how far she's willing to travel. she'll get home in roughly 2 hours.

BTW, just a couple of days ago his ears pricked up! They're still kinda floppy at the tip but I think they'll poke up by themselves real soon.

And I really wouldn't trust taking him back to the breeders. I remember my first rattie, I got him from the same place and he had ring worms on his skin, and intestinal worms, loads of flees, and he was so drugged up because they didn't inject the vaccine right the first time. I felt horrible. But I felt like I really did him a favor by taking him out of there. I kept him until he was almost 2 years old...that's when we moved to the new house and my mom didn't want any fur (because shedding was the only problem with Oreo) all over the new carpet. I cried, of course, and I've been wanting to get another rattie ever since but I've had nothing but criticism and complaints about Mr. Biggs. Yet nobody will offer to help me when I ask them because they think I want to dump the responsibility on them.

Yeah it definately would not be a good idea to return him to the breeder!! Would you like for me to contact Ratbone Rescue for you? I am a volunteer--they haven't got to use my services yet, but I am on their list Just let me know. Ratbone Rescue does extensive research on the potential puppy/dog adopters to insure that the new owners are right for the dog and the dog is right for the new owners. They do home inspections to make sure that it is a safe home for the dog. Honestly Ratbone is AWESOME!! They are in it for the dogs best interests.

I am not that far from Mr. Biggs, and I would be glad to transport him anywhere, if anyone in TX or surrounding area is interested in this little guy. Or what about getting him to Missouri? Maybe we could get a transport going to get him to you brashearsratterriers...?

Okay guys, I have found someone that can pick up the puppy!! She gets off of work at 4:00 pm and she can take him to a place lined up fairly close to the DFW metroplex area. I have no clue exactly where that is, but by golly it is something!! Please if anyone could pick him up there and drive him towards Missouri or if they live close to the metroplex area and would like to take care of this sweet little guy, please let me know!!

I feel guilty now. I know he's better off in a new home but I'm so attached. lol

I'll miss, that's for sure...Thank y'all for helping. Maybe I should put an updated picture of him. That one is a little bit outdated. He's gotten SOOO big since then. He's definitely filled in his collar, and his ears pricked up.

You know how when you get SO frustrated you just want to disappear the darn things but after you cool off, you're like NO NO NO, then they do it again and you're boiling? lol That's how I feel.

So where does this person live? I really don't want to give Mr. Biggs to someone who won't want to care for him...So yall please be sure it's the right person. Yall are awesome by the way!

The lady that was going to pick him up Saturday around 4 was only a transport to try to help get him to my house in Missouri. I did speak with a lady at Ratbones Rescue and she sent you some questions to answer to get him into Ratbone. I know that Ratbone will find him a wonderful home and get him clear of the worms. I know for a fact Ratbone makes sure that pups/dogs are going to good homes--they even do a home inspection of the potential pup/dog owner, before they are allowed to take the dog. Please send me a pm if you did not get her message.

Howdy,

This is Paula from Ratbone Rescues and I was the one who contacted the person posting on RT.com. I did not hear back after my private message on RT.com. If the situation changes I can be emailed directly at smiles4lifepkn @ yahoo.com (Remove the spaces). I can resend the questions as well at that time.

Thanks to all who cared so much to help this young one out!

being a MOM, too I would agree! when your life is settled more, then try! there is so much demand in a dog at ANY age! My youngest is 21 and finishing up college and she too decided it was too soon to take Cash home with her...when she is READY and has a dependable schudule(??not sure when)then they will BOTH be ready for EACH-OTHER!Until them I WON'T let her have him! And she is fine with that! It is not worth damaging a pup .....so its a good choice! good for you!! for being grown-up about it!

What's the longest a dog can be allowed to have parasitic worms before it begins to affect their health in a conspicuous way?

It's all very complicated. I don't know. As time keeps passing by, I'm starting to think that the best thing would be to send Mr. Biggs to the Humane Society of North Texas. I was busy all week and today, Smiles4life, but I'll see if I can have my mom call you tomorrow sometime if you're available. Or, I don't know if that's your direct line or not. Either way, I want the best for Mr. Biggs. The longer I wait and look at him, the more guilty I feel. I'm just sitting here not being able to cure him or vaccinate him while he could if I just take him to the humane society... I know many of you object. I'm keeping all of my options open.

Well, how long can Mr. Biggs have worms in his intestines until his health begins to suffer? He's about 5 mos or so now. I'm worried.
