Hey Happy President's Day. Can we lighten up here a bit. This is the way many good, fun boards go to the wayside and loose members.

We all have opinions. I don't think Kim mean't any harm to anyone. I'm sure there is a way to patch things up. After all it's all bout the babies! Now Janie, what have you got to loose to stick around?

My sanity and peace of mind. And that is really more than I want to pay. I'm sorry for caring and trying to help.

Ok... I'm gonna go back under the bed now....

And Phil... IMO... this "thing" inside of Janie that "makes" her want to help... is NOT a defect. It's a God-given gift, and I wish more people had it.

I joined this website on the 11th of this month. I can't believe what I have been reading in here! I am sure there are many wonderful people on this site that truly want to do the right thing. But, I have to tell you that the back biting and attacks on people who voice their opinions, by others who disagree, is absolutely ridiculous! Where the hell do any of you come off attacking anyone. Right, wrong or indifferent, you were not put on this earth to judge anyone! I am with Rattagans Mom on this one....I have had enough, I am out of here and will definitely join another group and complain to the rescue organizations about this nonsense.GROW THE HELL UP! There will be nothing left on this site but fruitcakes before long. Jesus, you are unbelievable! Go ahead attack me - I won't even know it, as I will be long gone...Have a great life!

Interesting..... I have been a member of this site for over 3 years and it's only been in the past few months that these kinds of issue were so commonplace.

Hopefully things chill out and I agree with the "did your mom not teach you if you can't say anything nice to someone to NOT talk at all." Motto

I figured it out.....it's that initial placement on the listing on the leftd that is the issue - whatever is in that listing is cursed

I honestly honestly honestly didn't mean any harm. Sometimes I like to point out other options, but I don't do it to attack people. Everyone has made this so personal, but it was meant to help everyone involved. I'm sure if it had been said face to face this wouldn't have happened, but everyone has a different interpretation of how it was said. I am the first person to do what I can to help. I don't think she was being selfish and rushing to get the puppy. As I have stated before I think she does great things. I would like to ask everyone to please stop saying bad things about me. If you look at my other posts on other subjects I have offered a differing opinion twice. That doesn't make me a bad person. Both times I was agreeing with you all when it came down to it, just offering a different view.

I know how hard it is when there are people out there critizing(sp) you for trying to do good...but I know you're a strong women and I wouldn't let those few people who love to judge others, be the reason that you should stop anything that you have your heart set on. Is it fair to those ratties in need of foster homes?? I think you would be a great foster mom~ don't let anyone change your mind about doing what you love!!! Is it fair to us, who I like to call your friends here on rt.com, to leave us? Just be the better person here and hold your head up high. We're here for you and love you ~ I, for one wouldn't leave this site for anyone! (well except if Lance asked me too...hehehe) You belong here!! (((HUGS)))

I'm trying but maybe I should just step back and just take a break for a while. It may well be what I need to do to put things in perspective. I love MOST of the people here in fact I haven't had any problems until recently on this site. It is a great place with lots of caring, loving people and maybe Hayden didn't mean things the way I took them. It is so hard to determine with writing what kind of inflections to place on the words. I'm sorry if I have upset anyone it was not my intention. I'm just sorry that one more time I tried to help and well... See what happens when I do. So I'll be a quiet mouse in the corner (don't turn the ratters on me) and just stay out of the way. I'll finish the fund raiser and then I'll see where I go from there.  I may be strong but then even the strong can only take so much.

I just got home from a nasty day at work, flipped on the computer to RT.com to try to lighten my day a little, and ran into this thread.  I just spent the better part of the past half hour reading this one and other threads related to this one.  I really feel uncomfortable reading the "conflicts" and seeing the hackles going up here, and what started out to be such a caring ,kindhearted and generous action on the part of a few members here, ended up being yet another debate.  I dont see how that is helping anyone---not the dog who needs a home, not the family who finds themselves in a predicament that they really would rather not be in at all, and certainly not any of the members of this site who are trying to do everything they can to help save the life of a little rattie who (if I read this whole mess right) has been a rescue dog more than once, now.  No dog should ever have to be in a shelter, and being in one more than once is unthinkable.

I know that the count here is now over 1300 members, and even though only a fraction of these members actually bother to ever post anything at all, there's no way in the world that we are ever going to ALL agree on anything---not on the way that some people feed their dogs, not on the way that some people train or dont train their dogs, not on whether or not someone is handling a situation like this little Tempe is in---hell, there is probably even contraversy over what type of t-shirts we should get.

I choose to read or not read what goes on here, because things like this thread where people seem to lose their tempers and get everyone all riled up serve no purpose at all.  But I certainly would not let the opposing opinion of anyone stop me from doing what I felt was the right thing to do.  Opposing opinions are just that---opinions.  So what if someone doesnt agree?

I guess I should just keep my opinions to myself, but I am a member here, just as much as anyone else, and I, like everyone else here, have the right to express my opinion---whether anyone agrees, disagrees or totally ignores it.  I really dont care.

Can't we get through one week without hurt feelings, misunderstandings and name calling?  I miss the days when RT.com was a fun place to be.

Hayden,

You claim to not be a mean person but you really should read your post before you hit the submit button.

I think it is absolutely amazing how people on this website are willing to donate money to help each other. However I am having trouble agreeing this time. To me having a rat terrier from so far away is a WANT because I'm sure there are ones that are much closer and more convenient to get. Things would be different if it were a case like Henry where death was imminent and no one was going to adopt. However in this case there are people in Utah who will adopt this puppy. Basically I am distinguishing between a WANT and a NEED and I can't see how there is a NEED for this dog so much that people have to donate money. In emergencies I think it's great we can help each other out, but this seems like its stepping over the line. Basically you can't afford to get the dog you WANT so maybe you should look closer to home or wait until you can afford it. We just bashed a girl last week about how she shouldn't own a puppy if she can't afford it. Can you afford THIS one? NO. Maybe you can afford one that doesn't need a plane ride and in that case go for it, BUT I don't think it's fair to ask people to give what little extra money they have just so you can have the puppy you WANT.

Find a dog that has no prospects and spend the money rescuing that one. This will be a waste of money and the little puppy out there that doesn't have anyone interested in it will be the loser.

Janie was just getting her ducks in a row incase Tempe had to be moved in a short period of time before ratbones or any other potential people were even interested in her. Being the original post stated that Tempe only had until the end of the week to find a home, Janie was doing everything in her power short of moving Heaven and Earth to make sure that pup wasn't going to a shelter.

You OBVIOUSLY owe Janie a flipping apology. And that should be a public one on this forum. That being said remember what goes around comes around and karma gets ya in the end.

Very well put Paul! I will say one thing though, it is not a good feeling getting attacked, especially when it comes from new people who have just found this site and immediately feel they are the "voice" of reason. I have only been around since May but, in that time, have gotten to know most of the regulars and veterans and their personalities. You having much more time than myself, have to admit that in the past month or so things are really getting out of hand. I have seen really valuable people leave because of all of this. I just hope things get back to "normal" whatever that is, soon.

OK guys, I have had ENOUGH!!  I am usually one to keep my mouth shut and try to keep the peace, but I am OVER IT!!  The personal attacks on this site in the last month or so have been absolutely CHILDISH and RIDICULOUS!!!  I have been a member for a while and I have NEVER seen the site the way it is right now!  Those of you that are initiating the attacks (and don't look like that, YOU know who YOU are....I will not name names) if you DON'T like what's going on, on the site...LEAVE...!  That is not saying that if you disagree with something or have an opinion that is different from everyone elses, you can't post it...PLEASE post it, but for goodness sakes, be RESPECTFUL about it!  I am so flippin sick of coming on the board day after day after day and seeing the SAME people attacking other people for no good reason...except to STIR up things!  If you guys would put as much effort into really getting to know everyone here as you do in creating controversy, who knows, you might actually find that you enjoy this board and the other members enjoy you!  We  have truly been blessed to have several angels on this board (Janie, you are one of them...I'll get to you in a minute). If you don't like the way we help people to rescue pups in need, then guess what?????  DON'T READ THE RESCUE POSTS!!!!!!!!

I have never come on this board and let go like this, but ya'll I AM SICK OF IT!!!!!  I feel like the older members are being run away by the handful of disrespectful ones.  I would rather be a member of a site with 400 people that can get along, debate respectfully, and have differing opinions that DO NOT turn into PERSONAL attacks, than to be a member of a site with 1300 people where members get attacked for no good reason!

This mess has GOT TO STOP!!!  I swear how old are some of you guys????  We have members that are kids that act much more mature than you do!  I know that I stepped on some toes and that I'm probably going to get attacked for it, probably by the exact ones that I am talking to!  I really don't care tonight, I have a hubby with the flu, a baby with a fever, I feel like crap, and reading this mess just set me over the edge...if you don't like it...don't post to me again...I really don't care at this point. I am NOT leaving b/c I agree with Tracey, if all the wardens leave, then the insane run the aslylum!!

Now..JANIE!!

Get your butt back on this board, don't you dare stop posting!  You are an angel and this board is TRULY BLESSED to have you!  I KNOW it's been hard, but the ones that have attacked you are just out to cause trouble, I don't think they even really care about what is really going on...it's just a matter of keeping the drama going.  Now, I am sick, but that DOES NOT mean I will not high tail it down to Florida and Pop you upside the head...then hug you and Phil and the babies and MAKE you start posting again!!!

Do not let a bunch of wanna be bullies run you or ANYONE ELSE off this site.  It's time we take our site back and don't give them the pleasure of running us off!

OK, my rant is over...if you didn't like it..Oh, well, I really fricken don't care tonight!!

Yikes Brandy! Glad I'm not the one that set you off!!!  But I agree with you. I have been on this forum for over 2 years, and it is really just recently we have had all the trouble. Have you noticed most of it comes from folks who are on the bottom 1/2 of the list? Meaning they have just joined recently.

Too many members here have good intentions to help pups in need to have ANYONE bash them for it. Especially since it seems they didn't read or comprehend the original post.

I have my own opinions too, and some here don't agree with me, but that is o.k. We've managed to get along anyway.

Janie, sorry this has happened to you again. Please keep up the good work you do. The pups need more people like you and others on this forum.

And this is exactly why I and some of the other older members don't post as often anymore. Back a couple of years ago I was completely addicted to this place as it was always fun.. We laughed hysterically, loved unconditionally and never ever bashed anyone for something that was none of our business. There do seem to be people here now who think they know everything about everything and trust me, YOU DO NOT.  Differences of opinion are one thing but personal attacks are something else. Janie didn't demand money from anyone but asked, quite respectfully, if anyone could help. I would do anything I possibly could to help save a dog from such a fate. It's things like this that turn my stomach and make me realize why I don't come here when I have the time to be here.

I miss the old days when this place was such a huge part of my life and the brightest part of my day. but with this kind of absolute bullsh*t going on as well as people being the almighty know it alls reminds me why I don't spend nearly as much time here as I used to.  We used to be a family who supported each other and reached out to each other to help in whatever way we could. That is still the underlying current in this site but there are those few who have to pee in the gas tank of RT. com. You must lead pretty miserable lives is all I can figure.

I love most of you people here and you know that. Its just that my nerves ..and my heart... can't deal with this crap most of the time.  That being said, I want all of my old buds here to know you are all still my favorites and will continue to be! Smooches.

It's not going to do any good to "complain to rescue organizations" about us - we're not a rescue affiliated site.  Although - we sure do help resuce a lot of ratties, don't we? There are some really wonderful people here and we all just need to remember that. For those that have been causing a lot of drama lately....just think....wouldn't life me made so much more simple without all ofthe drama?

Okay, wait a minute.  I just want to remind everyone that there have always been moments on this site.  I don't want to pull up  a bunch past bad memories, but I have been on here for over two years and I can recall some ugly times.  Examples:  when I had been a member about two weeks someone had a question about establishing dominance over the dog. I, very shyly (yes, I was shy at first) told that a trainer of ours had suggested not to free feed - that controlling food was a way to help establish pack dominance. (I never said one should never free feed, and it was made as a suggestion)  I was blasted by a former moderator, to the point that I was almost in tears.  I apologized profusely for something that I really didn't need to apologize for.  I was also called wicked and evil and condemned to hell for commenting that I used a prong collar for trainig.  We had moderators who accused other moderators of lying, we had a mass exodus (or perhaps dismissal, I don't know and don't want to know) of moderators and others and even a period of terrible, and I do mean terrible, accusations being made.  --   Need I go on?

I am only bringing this up to point out that, from time to time, this site has had it's not-so-good times.   This is nothing new.  The thing we need to do is, as Tracey has said, not leave and stop posting, but try to work to change the tone of posts. Now, I will be the first to admit that I have, on occasion (more than I probably want to admit) lost my temper.  Well, guess what - I am human.  That is why I pray everyday (not trying to insert any religious beliefs on anyone, just commenting on mine) for forgiveness of my many sins, for patience (which I will probably never learn) and for the wisdom to think before I speak.  "Dear Lord, put Your arm around my shoulder and Your hand over my mouth"  is one of my favorite prayers because it is so appropriate for me!  The Dear Lord probably rolls his eyes at me more than I would like to think.

So, like mothers who have several children (I swear they wouldn't if the pain of childbirth didn't fade)  -- I think we are forgetting some of the pains of the past.

Now, I am the pot calling the kettle black, because I raise my hand as having a quick tongue, a quick temper and also suffering from hurt feelings.  All of the above.  I have left the site and come back.  Been there, done that.  But, all-in-all, this is a wonderful group of people.  Let's hold on to that.  This site is a reflection of life -- good, bad; happy, sad; nice, mean - as I said before, it's because humans post, not our dogs.

(And, as far as the t-shirts are concerned -- a design will be chosen and it will not please everyone.  That is just a fact.  Well, no one will be holding a gun to anyone's head to buy one.  It is a free country and a free site (hmm, let's remember that folks.  Lance provides this site to us for free).  So, my stand on the t-shirts is "take 'em or leave 'em).

Thank you

All I can say is...bless all you rattie people!  The ratties are first and foremost with all of us.  I don't post a whole lot because I don't have time, but my Mom taught me if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!  This is a great, informative site and a treasure chest of rattie info.  You people are the only ones that totally understand unconditional love for our dogs.  Thanks for sharing your wealth of info!

Wow. This has all gotten out of hand. Hayden, I do believe you should read what you post first. Janie and Phil are the most generous people and to accuse them of the things you did was totally unacceptable. If you took the time to read stuff first you would see Janie stated clearly that she would take the dog if her only other choice was to go to a shelter. This bull^&% seems to happen everyother day around here! I am getting to a point that I am scared to open posts. I looked here to see what was going on with Tempe and I get this...WTH people. Give it up. Stop being so judgemental against people wanting to help. Hayden, your opinion is one thing but being downright rude and condescending to Janie AND everyone here is just ridiculous. Maybe you should look at how you state things before you hit Submit.

I'm finding it harder and harder to remember those days !  Refresh my memory -- when were they?
