Thanks I'm waiting to hear from the shelter first for a little more info, and if a sponsorship would help, that kind of stuff before sending his info over to rescues. But knowing that there is help with transport if needed always adds a big plus!

I just wish I could call from work... 1/2 the time I get home these shelters are already closed. Plus I'm impatient with emails (refresh.... refresh... refresh!)

22 days left for this poor guy I tried to call yesterday but they were already closed. They close at 6pm. Still haven't gotten an email back....

Well, I tried to get more info to see if I could sponsor him. I guess I'll just send his info over to rescues. I wonder if some of these shelters just pick and choose who to email back, or if they are just that busy? Gets frustrating sometimes...

What questions should i ask? i've never done this before.

i contacted a no kill shelter at Grinnell so see if they had room for him if we could get him out but they were full yesterday. They did say to keep in touch tho.

I am nowhere near this little guy but if there is a home cross country for him I would be willing to help with the Ohio part of transport or airfare. I have been thinking about this poor dog a lot. 7 years is not that old, that's only 1/2 his life. I pray there is a way to get him out.

Thanks This is the email I sent:

I was inquiring about the little terrier in your shelter, Henry. I came across his image on petfinder and was hoping you could let me know if he was still available. Also, if he is, could you let me know any other details you have about him? (personality/health/etc...)

And I was also wondering if he was in any danger of being euthanized, and if so, do you know how long he has? And if putting up a donation for him, or paying for his adoption fee would save him or give him more time?

Well, I emailed Ratbones and Rat Terrier ResQ about him, so I'll update when I hear back...

There's also another rattie in their shelter, but I don't know if he's in danger or not:

Okay here is what really frosts my cookies, so this dog was found wearing a collar which means some human was caring for him at some point.  Why was there no ID on the collar?? Losing one of my dogs is my biggest fear and here it seems like this guy had contact with some humans who obviously didn't care about him much to let him end up in a shelter. Why even get a dog then~~

Any update on this guy?  Anyone heard from the shelter?  It would be TERRIBLE to put this dog down just because of age - he's only 7 years old - still has at LEAST another good 7 in him!!!!

I did not hear anything back from the email I sent either.
When I was on petfinder, it brought up a group called American Rat Terrier Rescue Corporation that had some other dogs in Iowa. They are based in California.
Has anybody heard of them?

He sounds like a great little guy. I wish I could take him. I have been looking for a companion for Jack, ever since my Wicca passed last month. The only problem is that I live all the way in Maryland. I can't take off from work to drive out there, and I can't afford to fly out there. I wonder if ther even adopt out to other states. Any Suggestions?

You could call them and ask. I flew Mocha here from Chicago. The temperatures might be a problem, because airlines won't fly animals at less than 45 degrees or more than 85. I flew Mocha on American and it cost me about $175. Maybe some people would be willing to help you out.

I would chip in and help with flight, the other thing is we can see how many on this board would be willing to transport, if we all put in a great group effort maybe we can tranport this guy cross country courtesy of Ratterrier.com, someone may have to keep him for a night here and there but where there is a will there is a way right!

Kim, it looks like all of us are in between. Ya know what might be "fun" just to see, I think Daisy's mom is really good at mapping out leggs of transport, what if she put together a mock up transport including where he may have to stay a night with someone and just see if we could fill it, just to know.........what do you think??

I think that would be awesome!!! Tracey!! Where are you! hehe, she is good at those!

Oh, we still need to get a hold of that shelter though to make sure he's still there! I still haven't had any luck with them, I'm just on the wrong schedule to call at the right time...

If he has til the 29th I would hope he would be there, if he gets adopted that would be wonderful!!

I think it would still be interesting to do a mock transport just to see if Rat Terrier.com could get a dog cross country if need be!! maybe we can make the news!!

I'm in the south, but if money is an issue for pulling him or flying him somewhere, i would be more than happy to chip in.
