What a poor old girl!! Mystie has cataracts, was pregnant and when dumped, the owners said to euthanize her. The shelter just didn't have the heart to do it, someone contacted Ratbone, Caroline called her sister in Texas and had her pull this poor pregnant old girl... and held her until a transport could be set up. In the meantime, she gave birth to 6 babies - here's her image event site: http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/mystie - she's currently in Texas with Caroline Wood's sister, but will eventually go to Caroline to foster.
Sad news tho, we lost one of the puppies this weekend. How someone could allow an 11 year old dog to get pregnant is beyond me....
There have been MANY offers of donations to help pay for Mystie's cataract surgery from the Dallas/Fort Worth Cares board... as they were extremely helpful in saving this old girl...

| It is sad that you lost the little chocolate one. She is in heaven now. I wish Mystie could see. I know she feels th love, and knows she is being cared for. She was probably so glad to be out of the shelter, she felt it was time to let the little ones come into the world. Does anyone know what kind of dog the father is? These little boys remind me of my Winchester.Thank you everyone for donating to her eye surgery. I hope she has many more years that she will be able to enjoy seeing again. I would like to donate to her fund also, maybe there will be enough for her babies to be cared for also. How do you go about donating specifically to her? Will the extra money, if there is any, be used for other ratbone rescue ratties?I wish I could adopt one of the babies. I have four ratties, and need a bigger house. It is good thay are small, so my big backyard is fun for them to do their rattie 500 each day. |

You can email rattiemom2003@yahoo.com and ask how to donate directly to Mystie. Any $$ raised above and beyond the cost of surgery (which will probably be about $1,500 because I looked at doing it for my Sasha, but of course, that is NY prices!!) will be used to help Ratbone dogs : )
THANK YOU!

Now I'm sitting here in tears. This girl's story breaks my heart. I can't fathom the heartlessness and cruelty of some people. God bless Caroline, her sister, and everyone who is working so hard to get this rattie the surgery and care she needs and a great forever home |

Don't understand people, but I've said it before and I'll say it again ---- there is a special place in hell for people who treat animals like that.
I'm thanking the Lord today (again) for Ratbone Rescues. Bless you all. |

Sad news everyone. Another baby died over this past weekend. So now that leaves 3 pups who I'm told are thriving. I guess they think that because of Mystie's age and lack of care while she was pregnant, the 2 runt pups weren't thriving.
The good news is, that Momma and the 3 remaining babies are doing well. I've asked for updated pictures. When I get them, I'll post the link!! |
