The Mercer County Pound in Celina, Ohio is in need of help from rescue to save several dogs. The pound fees are $22.00. Please call the dog warden at 419 942 1550.

I think they can be sponsored for $22 til they find a home. I have so much $$ tied up in rescue right now I can't do it , I am driving to Allen county this weekend which isn't even by him either. I was just hoping someone could maybe sponsor him so he doesn't get put down. |

I know, I feel the same way....
I keep refreshing my email! Nothing yet  I hope they reply soon... if not I can call when I get home, but with the time difference they might be closed. I get off at 3:30, so that would be 6:30 Chip time. |

| THe warden can't help with the sponsorship. I called and talked to him. We need to talk to Deb: ph 419-953-2415. She can help out, according to him. He said she's probably not available until after 5:00. I guess she's at work right now... |

That is so awesome. I hope someone can help. Thank you all so much for the effort everyone is putting in for rescue these days. I was thinking about it the other night, how many dogs have the people on this board rescued or helped. I bet the number is extremely high., |

| Ok, I got a reply!! And the payment has been sent through paypal So he is now sponsored and she is sending his info to rescue groups in hopes that they can help get him a forever home! She also said that she really doesn't have any info on him, but he seems like a really nice boy She will also send me updates on him. |

saving a life is doing plenty. You are somewhat of his foster mom now!! I will keep you updated if I hear anything more as well. It sucks when I come into work and I have these e-mails of all these terriers in danger. It makes it all worth it when something like this happens and you help even just one. Thank you for helping. |

Well, I just got another email from them, this one is not so nice... She said the sponsorship donation cannot guarentee that Chip will not be PTS... However it will buy him time for her to send his info to all the rescues (she doesn't know how long), and it provides an inncentive for them to pull him from the shelter. She doesn't believe that he is in any immediate danger though.
Why the heck did she wait until now to tell me this! Oh well, at least the donation is a start..... I wonder if either Ratbones or Rat Terrier ResQ can help us out? |

Hello, I just saw this...
I am unable to take in another dog at this time, and it is raining rattie everywhere!! :-( , and there's one in South Bend, IN name Harpo..... needs a foster or forever home..... Ooooohhhh, i wanted to take him in..... but i couldn't.... even my husband feels the same way... we are on a tight budget at this time, and it is very frustrating for me.....
Mercer county, Celina, OH is approx. no more than an hour from me..... i just need to cross one county, yes one county to get there.
That place is a high kill facility and it also has no heat.... which is very sad... I even have that bookmarked, but I haven't checked lately and it breaks my heart to look..... But i do check their website every now and then..... But I have heard of the people there are willing to work with rescue groups etc. and are good about responding.
I also wanted to say thank you for sponsering the little guy.... I hope there's a foster home avaliable for him soon.
If i ever win the lottery..... I probably would take in a few fosters at a time..... rattie or not.... i just love dogs in general........ and cats too.... |

 I know, it just caught me off guard that's all!  Even if the donation I made bought him just one extra day to try and find a rescue, it is totally worth it! Fingers crossed!
Maybe one of the people from Ratbones, or Rat Terrier ResQ will respond soon! Or maybe they'll stop by and see this thread and know what to do....

just wanted to update... haven't heard anything yet. I emailed both Ratbones and Rat Terrier ResQ to see if they could help Chip out. Also, that lady from the shelter, Debra, said she would email me with anything new, or if she found out how long he had...
I think I have started to refresh my email now every 20.3 seconds |

oh wow! Debra, the woman who is helping to rescue Chip, sent out this email to 50 (yes 50!) rescue organizations in Ohio!!  And I got a tip about a good rescue from an organization I contacted who said they were sorry, but full... so I'm going to send this to them to! Oh happy morning

Chip is in the Mercer County Pound in Celina, Ohio. This adorable boy seems to be a Rat Terrier mix, and weighs approximately 20 pounds. Chip is confused about why he is here, but will come up to the kennel fence to check visitors out. Maybe someone has come to take him home? The pound fee for Chip has been sponsored for an approved rescue. (Thank you, Kim!)
