If someone here can pull and foster him, Ratbone can use our GAP Program to put him on our website to be adopted, unless they want to go through our process of becoming a fosterhome

How long is does it typically take for a rattie to be adopted through Ratbones? On average, how long are they at the foster home?

Pam,

It's hard to say - I've had dogs for only a couple weeks - and I've had dogs for several months. Verne is young, and handsome, and I can only surmise he would be adopted fairly quickly, but there are no guarantees.

I asked hubby if his uncle in OK City would want a dog, but hubby said he wouldn't even want a skunk to have to live with his uncle. Apparently, he doesn't like his uncle.

I wonder if Angie, scrappinrattie, would want another rattie? She's about 2 hours north of Stillwater in Kansas. I know she's going through a rough patch right now.

I am trying to call my SIL today (about another issue). When I get ahold of her I am going to ask if she knows anyone there in Stillwater that might want him.

Hey Dawnie,

Thank you, sweet lady, for asking.   I'm afraid to say she's doing fine cuz when I do, all heck breaks loose!! It would almost be easier for me to accept these fainting/seizure spells if she was sickly and failing, but she's not. When she's good, you'd never know she had ANY medical issues at all. It's actually quite bizzare... cuz I know she's 19, but she sure doesn't act it.

I called my vet cuz I have questions about treatment. I did some research (and none of it was positive - these types of episodes are considered severe and are a result of ventricular arrhythmias and they are something she can die from. I'm wondering if it would hurt just to have the cardiologist take a look at her anyway just as precaution. The worst that can happen is that he'll say there's nothing we can do and I'm out a few hundred bucks (with no diagnostic testing of course).

Sorry...hubby says no. I could go get him if someone else could foster him. Stillwater is about 60 miles from me. I live in Oklahoma City if anyone would foster him. That's only a couple hours from Texas.....or Kansas......

That's a great idea. Who would coordinate collecting $$ for a flight? Anyone at all able to pick him up and get him on a plane. Anyone else willing to foster and/or adopt him if we can arrange to get him to you???

I think he's adorable, but I think James would KILL me if we took him in out here. However, he's just a cutie!!! If worse comes to worse, I MAY be able to talk my parents or someone into it. Do we know if he's housebroken or anything like that? If he is housebroken and we can figure out a way to get him here to OR, I may be able to make some arrangements for him. James doesn't like having all the dogs around, but, luckily, for the most part, he lets me have my way...
That and my parents have a big house and my sisters beagle and they have a lab mix of sorts. My dad may be unhappy, but he's more of a smal dog person.... James gets irritable when the dogs have accidents in the house and I don't think my parents will want to deal with housebreaking... If he's able to "hold it", I may be able to get James to consider at least fostering.

Being that he's a shelter dog, there's no way to say if he is or isn't.  There's no guarantees.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of. I've been lucky with our other dogs, so perhaps fingers crossed....
Although, he is small enough, I would think it would be easy to keep him contained to the kitchen/eating nook.
I've email the shelter with a couple questions regarding him, because if there was a way to get him here, I need to know that he's not going to be scared of our bigger dogs at the very least....
