I visited the shelter on Friday. These dogs were turned in on 12/27
because of "a death in the family". All three are females and all
three are already spayed. Daisy and Wishbone are 2 years old. Jody is
4 years old. They are each wearing collars with rabies tags attached.
So very sad. They have been someone's pets and now abandoned at the
shelter. They are very afraid at the shelter and not at all safe as
most all kennels are full right now. They are pretty girls. Please
crosspost. Thanks. - Sherrie

Those poor little girls How sad!!! I hope they can be adopted or pulled and fostered before their time runs out.

Another good example of the need to KNOW there is a plan in place for your furbabies if something should happen to you.

I cross posted onto a Jack Russell Forum, I am hoping someone from Russell Rescue will see and be able to help.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

I just feel so bad for animals that get dumped at a shelter becuase of a death. It just saddens me that these poor babies lose their owner and their home all in one day. I could just never lose a family member and not make sure that the animals they loved were taken care of. I know its a very rough time for a family when someone passes away and I understand that all families cannot take care of surviving animals, but to drop them off at a shelter seems so sudden. At the nursing home CoCo and I visit weekly, there is a man that we both have grown very fond of. When his daughter put him in the home and moved out of state, she brought his two beloved ratties to a kill shelter here. He has no idea what happened to them, and he still feels guilty becuase there was nothing he could do to prevent it. It makes me so mad in situations like that. I don;t see how people can view dogs as just another piece of property, like a clock or a table. It just makes me angry... One funny thing is that my brother and his wife found a stray and took her in and she is like their child. He called me a few weeks ago and was very serious sounding. He asked me if I would be the gaurdian to Heidi their dog if something should happen to he and Jen. I of course said yes, but its amazing to me how some people liken their animals to their children and some treat them as mere peices of property to do with as they wish.

* Okay I will step off my soapbox now**

I emailed Ratbone and they replied back saying they are in the process of working with the shelter.

How sad for these three little girls. And you KNOW they probably won't be able to adopt all 3 together, so they will most likely go to separate forever homes. Such a sad story.

What a beautiful RT family, I hope someone can adopt them. It's so sad that they will probably have to be separated since it's not likely that they will be able to adopt 3 ratties together.

I wonder what happened with the family. I wish there was another alternative than for them to be dropped at a shelter.
