So a friend of ours is going though a divorce after 20 years of marriage and is really lonely. He comes over a lot and hangs out and Alice just loves him. She always cuddles with him and he calls her "his girl". So yesterday he spent New Years Day with us and said that he wanted to call us New Year's Eve and take Alice for the night so he wouldn't be lonely. So he got to thinking why doesn't he have a dog?? He has a big empty house and a fenced in yard.......I called our small terrier rescue where we got Fred (I help them out a lot and have made some good friends) and Saturday morning we are taking Bob out to hopefully bring a dog home!!

Here are the top 3 he likes, any opinions. Now what is great is as soon as he gets one, after a few months he has the room and I know he will be getting two. I know the second one we will have some more time and find him a Rattie but right now I think it is down to these three:

I am pushing for Peter, he came to rescue with fleas so bad he had no fur on his back but he is a good boy in spite of it all. I love them all though, no matter what if Bob didn't form his bond with Alice our rattie I don't know if he would have wanted a dog so much as he does now.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too

What a sweet, sweet story. Little Alice is such a good rattie ambassador I'm glad you're friend is going to rescue a pup in need of a good home and sounds like he really needs someone too...and there's no better "friend" to talk to sometimes than a dog, is there?

Peter looks so sad! He needs a new daddy to take care of him.

I am so happy for him and I wouldnt' let him go any other route but rescue. I think whoever he rescue's will be rescueing him right back.

Ya know what makes me sad is the fact that there are dogs that you have to say No too and leave them there while another gets a home. I know it has to happen but that makes me sad for them.

I am just so happy he is getting a dog, he needs one so bad and he is so good with Alice, whenever he is over and he sits down he says "where is my girl at" and Alice will come running jump on him and lick him all over his face. It is  some of the few times we see him smile anymore.

You can't talk him into all three? I would have a hard time choosing too.

My fav is Pixie but why not just get all three. After all Three's Company not a crowd. And that would sure keep him so busy he wouldn't have a chance to be lonely.

What a sweet story! I'm glad Bob is going to resue a pup! It sounds like the right/perfect thing for him. I know I can't be sad with mine around. I would have a hard time choosing tho. Good luck, and let us know what happens!
