HI, Nice to meet you all, I'm adopting a terrier from the local pound in about a week, I think he looks like a RT but not positive, think he'll be a nice little dog no matter what but wonder if you pros can tell his breed better than me?
I have3 Morgan horses, an adopted basset, a rescue cat as well as two rescue pigeons who have grown up and the first of their babies hatched this weekend, with another due to hatch any day. (2nd batch of babies they have had)
Anyway, want to learn about the terrier breed, and thought this looked like a great place to do it! He's 3, they think house trained, well behaved and loving. I can't tell if the pic I tried to attach worked though.  so I'll send you a link to his adoption site.

What a cutie! Yes I do think he could be a rat terrier, if I had to guess at a breed that's what I'd say (I'm no expert though by any means!)
Thanks for saving this guy. He sounds like a very nice dog and he's very handsome as well. |

I definitely think he is a rat terrier. In fact, after looking at the picture for a while, he looks alot like my Vino in size and features. Bless you for adopting this little boy, he is beautiful.
I am pretty sure he probably isn't a mix. Look at this picture that I posted of Monti and compare it to the tan rattie in my avatar. They look very similar to me...

Thanks, I'm hoping he'll fit in nicely. They called me today and told me the adoption is approved, I was planning to go meet him tomorrow, leave him something of mine until I can pick him up. They said since I'm approved I could get him tomorrow, I think I will! I don't know if it's wise to do it with a convention coming next weekend to take him too, but can't leave him in the shelter another whole week when he can be home with us! I'm so excited. |

| OHHHHH.....Congratulations. He will probably be fine at the convention. Ratties just want to be with their humans usually, at least mine do, so I bet he will just be happy to be with you. You will have to post up some pics when you get him. Keep us updated, PLEASE!!!! |

I'll be sure and post pics when I get him and he's relaxed a bit, I'm sure he'll be nervous and overwhelmed tomorrow! I am so excited. and Jan, my first introduction to Morgans was a friend of my mom's who had a morgan walker cross, jet black QUITE a horse!

I think he looks like a RT. You will love the breed, mine adapts to anything you want to do, from long hikes inthe woods to a good cuddle by the fire. |

| Thank you all and I posted a message Monti is HOME to the group! Super cool little dog. Couldn't have gotten a nicer one! So far he has done nothing wrong, absolutely NOTHING. I'm off work this week (Dr. ordered) so I can bond with him, I'm thrilled although I don't think we need to bond much more, he's MY dog already! (S) I'll post pics when I get them back! And thanks for the compliments on my horses, they are my babies too! (S) |

| I took pics of Monti's first night at our house. He's settled in perfectly. Still a super dog. Even goes to the kitchen counter and whines when he wants water! We went to the convention and he was a great fella, never disturbed a soul and behaved perfect! Slept in my lap all the way under his blanket. (S) I"ll post the pics in the photos section under Monti ok? |
