I am so hopeful that this will all work out. Looking forward to hearing an update from Patricia or Artie this weekend.

Well, I agree -- Artie is a "helluva" guy and I never got the impression he was thinking of taking Sadie to a shelter - just didn't seem to have ever entered his mind to do so -- but I know it is a worry we all have. But, Artie has posted so much about wanting the best for Sadie, I just never worried that he would dump her in a shelter!
Artie, I am so sorry to learn of your wife losing her battle with breast cancer. I am a 14 year survivor of breast cancer and have a very dear friend who lost his wife about the same time I was battling my Stage 2 cancer. I remind myself often what a lucky woman I am to have won my battle. We often can forget that breast cancer is still a killer as there are also so many survivors.
It is totally understandable that your Buttons & Bows is a special girl to you. A living tribute to the memory of your dear wife. You know, you have been through so much and it is commendable that you have tried with Sadie. I imagine you are a man that values life to the fullest.
I think Morgan understands that you were upset -- she is a sweet girl with a loving heart -- so I bet all is well between the two of you.
Don't feel badly that it didn't work out with Sadie. You tried and you were willing to take her in, and that is more than most people (me included) could do. Sounds like things will work out for Miss Sadie and I do hope you will continue on as a member here. We would love to keep up with you and BB and you can keep up with Sadie as well.
Bless you for your attempts to help and remember, we are all only human and can only handle so much. Sounds like your plate has been plenty full over the last few years. You just enjoy that little girl BB and keep us posted with stories about her!
God Bless You!

Thank you Katie for those kind words. No kill shelter , never ever.

Still waiting for Pat to call. Sent her an e-mail and told her I would go a couple hours from my house to meet her. And if she changes her mind then Sadie stays with me.

Thanks again Artie

Artie, don't try to keep Sadie if this doesn't work out.  We will all keep working to try and find her a home.  Don't take on more than you can deal with.

Love ya, Jan

Artie just emailed me and decided he was keeping Sadie, and that is fine, I told him if he changes his mind that I would still gladly take her, as I was looking forward to her being a part of our pack.

I'm with PawWh, Artie. Please don't feel guilted into keeping Sadie. I know you must have been through a lot and I don't want you to take on more than you can handle. We all love ya - no matter what you decide. So long as Sadie is in a good home, it doesn't matter what home she is in -- right? So, don't feel pressured into keeping her -- or keep her out of love, if it is all too much for you. Do what you feel most comfortable doing and know you have all of our support in your decision. Hang in there, buddy!

Swatson : No crate, Sadie likes a chair in the livingroom when BB and me  go to bed, Sadie comes in and gives us a good night kiss and goes in the livingroom to sleep. Then at about 6:30 am she comes in the bedroom and wakes us up, we lay around till 7am then all get up to eat and pp. I have a little training to do and all will be ok. Sadie is a smart dog.  Artie

I wish you, Sadie, and BB the best of luck. Let us know if you have any training questions or if you just want to vent when things get frustrating. I hope the girls will learn to love each other and to share your attention.

Wait a minute Artie.......PLEASE...I have been through the ups and downs with you more than anyone and I know how stressed you have been since you got Sadie from me.
DO NOT KEEP SADIE OUT OF GUILT...YOU have done a great job.....It sounds like Patrica is more than happy to have Sadie and give her ANOTHER good home. I know you love Sadie...no one who knows her could not love her sweet nature but think long and hard about this before she loses this opportunity to go with Patricia......vickie

I know that everyone wants the best for Sadie and are trying their best to work things out, I just can't help but to feel bad for Sadie because of all the back and forth decisions to give her away and keep her. I think it's been back and forth 2 times now? I think what Sadie needs more than anything is consistency right now. I really think that dogs have a good sense for knowing what is going on...

Yes, Artie. Don't take on more than you can handle now. As I said before, Sadie will be happy whenever she gets settled into her new home - whether it's with Patricia or with you. Sounds like you have been through the wringer with the loss of your wife and caring for BB and now Sadie. Please make a decision that will work out best for YOU and Sadie. Thank goodness there are options! Sometimes that is not the case. No one feels harshly toward you no matter what you decide -- we all want to give you whatever support you may need.

Sadie know longer needs a new home, she is home now. We had a talk and we all understand whet we expect of each other. They give me my space and I will give them there space and we all agreed. we all made a turn around and are doing good. You can learn a lot from dogs.

WOW..I am leaving in a few hours and will be out of the country for a few weeks. Not sure how much Internet access I will have but will check in if able.
Artie has assured me over the past 2 days that he is settled and fine with his decision to keep Sadie.
I have also corresponded with Patricia, and Artie knows she will be happy to take Sadie if he changes his mind. I am also sorry it has been so confusing. Hopefully, everyone is settled and will be happy.
I am so grateful for all the support you guys have given over the past few weeks. May you all have a wonderful 2008. All my best,
Vickie
