By the way, I posted this girl who is in Ratbone Rescues (a wonderful rattie rescue organization) for another member, but she has applied for another girl from them (Mocha). She might possibly be a good fit for your family. As I pointed out in another post, even though she is in Florida, Ratbones does great work in transporting dogs over long distances to their forever homes, so don't let her location fool you. If Aimee isn't the right rattie for you because of the ferrets, they may have others who would be. The benefit is these ratties (most pulled from shelters or other bad situations) are in home environments and are well evaluated. Here is Aimee:

This girl is listed at Ratbone Rescues and sounds perfect I know she is in Florida, but Ratbones does great work in helping to arrange transports for longer distances. You can find all of the contact information, as well as their adoption procedures on their website: http://www.ratbonerescues.com/available_response_16.php

Aimee female

Location: Florida

Aimee is an absolute dream of a dog. This sweet 3 year old Rat Terrier weighs about 18 pounds She came into rescue when her owner left her with her sister because she could not care for her. The sister had no means to take care of her either but cared enough to get her to Ratbone Rescues. Aimee gets along well with all the dogs she has met and had cats in the home where she previously lived. She is not afraid of children and is not fearful of strangers. Aimee appears to be housebroken and hasn't had any accidents in her foster home, although her foster home has a doggie door she is learning to use. She is well mannered and doesn't beg. She sits and waits patiently to be fed. She loves to play fetch and play with the other dogs but is just as content to lie curled up in the corner of the couch. She crates well although she would prefer not to be in her crate. Aimee is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is an excellent rider in the car, where she lies on the seat and enjoys the ride. If you would like a loving and loyal companion and can give Aimee the love and attention she needs, please apply!

This dog is okay with:

cats

dogs

kids

I'm glad Big Pup got a home afterall. JMO but I would never trust a rat terrier around any sort of rodent, rabbit, ferret, etc. It is their instinct to chase down and kill these animals.
