Lady (our only dog) is not supposed to chase the cats (we have three). Furthermore, she knows she's not supposed to chase them. Of course, she still does it when she thinks we're not looking.
It's the funniest thing. Let's say she's chasing one of the cats down the hall and into the living room. Human just happens to be in the living room, standing next to the hall entrance. Cat zips around the corner into the living room, seeking a defensible space. A second later, Lady careens around the same corner in hot pursuit, only to encounter Human looking askance at her. Lady stops, puts herself into a down stay. Human asks, "You weren't chasing the cat, were you?" Lady looks up innocently, as if to say, "Me? Chasing the cat? Oh, no, Mama, I know I'm not supposed to do that. It must have been your other little doggy." Human: "Our other dog. Check. We have so many of them, after all . . ."

You look even more innocent with a tuft of cat fur hanging from the corner of your mouth. Oh yes, the joy of having a rat terrier and a cat or two. I know this scene all to well. |

Toby likes to chase my moms cat until one time when she turned around and pinned him to the ground and bit him. He is now very careful on playing with her. This kitty is a little bigger then my pup but boy did she put him in his place. It was too funny but he deserved it. |

| Ginger chases our cats all the time, i feel bad that the cats are getting tortured, i guess it's futile to teach her to stop? She is careful with Abby, because Abby will smack her, claws out. Kasey, the younger male cat, he gets the worst of it, Ginger just terrorizes that cat! |

Fortunately, Lady is pretty much all bluster. As many of you have commented with regard to your pups, all it takes is one good smack from the cats for Lady to beat a hasty retreat. She then gives them a wide berth for a week or so, until she apparently forgets about being swiped across the nose . . . |

| I have 10lb rattie and14 lb cat...who do you think wins the WWE smackdown? I have to replace Maggies collar every 2or 3 months because Sonny (cat man) will attach himself and let Maggie drag him around on the laminate floor. It's a riot!! They are a great match! |

My guy, Jack, a rescue dog...LOVES his cats. When I first took him in, they were only kittens. (2 months old) He would very methodically give them face baths every morning, and I have some great photos with all three sleepiong together I need to have scanned so I can post them Sure he chased them sometimes, "But only for the exercise, Mom... we don't want them growing up to be fat!

| Darcy and Sophie pretty much leave the farm cats alone except sometimes they chase them from the doorstep to the machine shed (where they say they belong). But usually they only chase the black ones. Especially a neighborhood male who has a bob tail. They definitely know him.. |

I spent many hours teaching Diego to play "get the kitty" and now it's one of his favorite games and he chases the cats out of the bedroom and off the bed... Since both my cats are indoor/outdoor cats and in great shape... and bigger than Diego... it's all rather amusing. |
|
If everyone recieved kind of love my Diego gives me, there would be world peace. |

| When Abby came she was smaller than my cat...the cat liked to play with her. Not anymore...Abby weighs about 5#'s more and is a couple of inches taller...now Abbs tackles the cat...all in all they get along really well! |
