Lady LOVES fresh fruit and vegetables.  The only things she won't eat are:

bananas

raw mushrooms

raw parsley (she'll nibble it a little, then leave it)

raw onions and garlic (not that we intentionally give them to her).

Her special favorites are raw carrots, spinach, zucchini, and apple.

Sophie has started eating the berries off the low branches. She saw me eating some and wanted to try and now she's picking them herself.
I used to have an Airedale that would go in the sweet corn and get an ear off the stalk when the corn was ready.

Mine all love snap peas, carrots, black eyed peas. Mayfly and Skipper like banana but it is one of the few things Mitzy won't eat. Mitzy, however, IS a fiend for watermelon! Pears are ok but they aren't thrilled with them.

BTW - be careful with the onion - it can be toxic to dogs - check out the Health Forum and the Foods Toxic to Dogs post.

We haven't given Bob too much people food. The few times we have, he threw up.

In our house Loco has that position.... it's either throwing up or liquid out the other end.  Poor girl misses a lot of snacks because of that.

Max is a pan cleaner.   He counts the number of pans and looks at us if he doesn't get all of them to clean.

Well, dishes are supposed to be scraped and pre-cleaned before putting them in the dishwasher.  Max has kindly offered to do that for y'all.  What a helpful boy!

Lucy likes some veggies,  but not too many.  Cooked carrots and spinach seem to be her favorites.  She likes mandarin oranges, too. I know this because I had to share one with her the other day.  She hates bananas, but Darmok likes all fruits and veggies---heck, she just loves to EAT!

There isn't much that Abby doesn't like! The list also includes cat hair!! My SIL has a dog that went to the Vets and they wanted to know why the inside of her mouth was all cut up! She eats the walnuts off the tree..cracks them open with her teeth!
We had a Newf that used to go the pick the red raspberries off the bushes until one day he hit the electric fence...that was the end for him!

I didn't think nothing much about this until I read this post. The other day I was over my boyfriends apartment. We both were sitting on the couch eating sugar peas, carrots, broccoli with ranch dressing. I acidentally dropped a pea. Shadow jumped on it like his life depended on it. He sure loved it. I will have to try others to see if he likes them. However, I am afraid to give him too much because he may want to get used to table food and I don't cook at all.... Don't want to leave my baby hanging. Right now I give him every other night with dinner a table spoon of cottage cheese mixed with his Candidae food. He absolutely loves it! Yep out ratties definately have RATTITUDE about everything. That's why I love mine so much.

Macie loves fruits but she plays with them for about 5 minutes throwing them up in the air and chasing them around the apartment before she actually decides to eat them...

The only veggie she hasn't liked so far is radishes (sp?) I think her favorite veggie is cookeed brussel sprouts (YUM!!)

I didn't know dogs ate fruits or veggies. My mum was just telling me that her Geronimo eats fruits with her...who knew?

Wolf eats just about everything, although he prefers almond butter to peanut butter. A couple of weeks ago I dropped a gherkin getting it out of the jar. Wolf got it before it hit the floor. Must have been a bit tangy for him because when he looked back up at me, he was smiling, but his left eye had a little twitch. Too cute. My German Shepherd, Mack, used to beg when I was cooking. One day my husband gave him part of a bell pepper a piece of lettuce. When Mack was going to put it on the floor and walk away, Wayne said, "Mack, if you beg you have to eat it." So, Mack carried it ever so gingerly across the room to where the cat was sleeping and placed it in front of him. :0)

Dottie is a healthy eater too! She loves strawberries, corn on the cob (we call this her veggie bone ), and watermelon.

The other night we were are my parents' house and my dad broke a corn cob in half and gave part to Dottie and the other piece to "aunt" Lucy. Dottie ran over and snatched Lucy's piece and tried her best to put both pieces in her mouth! (We are still working on learning to share. Typical problem with spoiled, only children.)

Great topic!!  Our past dog used to LOVE fruit and veggies.  When I would get dinner ready I'd knock a piece off the counter behind his back (Yes, the kitchen is all but off-limits to my wife ).    Since he would constantly root around, eventually he'd find it and carry it off to his "den" area (besides his bed) to consume it.  Before Rusty, we took in my Grandmother's cat, George, after she passed.  He was a gentle, sweet big boy (large,  not fat) of 18lbs. and he also loved his greens.  When we got our Bailey, this was one of the first things I tried and happy to say he's also a sucker for the fruits and veggies, too.  Then again, not too many things Bailey won't eat!!

Best regards,

Michael

My girls have discovered that food grows outside, and they LOVE it. I picked a blackberry for my dobie Rosie, and Molly was right there trying to figure out where the food came from. She quickly smelled the exact spot that I picked the berry from, and she NEEDED to have one too. All 4 of my dogs love berries, although Lucy and Molly have more delicate palates and will only eat the squishy, over-ripe ones. Buddy loves apples...he doesn't care if they won't be ready for another month. He knows that apples are only around for a short time, and he needs to eat as many as possible! Who knows what else these ratties will discover that they love? There isn't much that they won't at least try, even if they end up spitting it out and staring at it.

Isn't that the truth?  I think they stare at the food in hopes that it will suddenly change into something like *do* like!
