Bob gets so excited whenever anyone makes toast. This morning he was dozing on the couch while I was in the kitchen. But as soon as he heard me depress the lever of the toaster, he was in the kitchen doing his excited dance. He especially likes to eat the crusts. |

| Russ loves to help me eat the occasional Toaster Scrambler. Yes, the magical toaster noise is a happy sound. |

| Mine respond to the sound of the fridge door being opened or the sound of cereal being poured. |

Lucy and Dar can tell from 3 rooms away if I put a marshmallow in my mouth. If I open the refrigerator door for any reason, they are there looking skeptically at me like they are the Fridge Police--the only way I can sneak a bite of pie for myself is to 'buy their silence' with a piece of cheese! |

Bob knows the familiar sounds of me making coffee and pouring my cereal and doesn't budge for those. He doesn't even come in there when he hears me putting his food in his bowl. But the sound of the toaster gets him every time! When I was a kid, we had a dachshund mix who would nap under my parents bed all day long if we'd let her. Whenever we wanted to get her to come out from under the bed, we would run the electric can opener in the kitchen. |

No kiddin'!! Bailey is pretty keen on the rustle of bags, the cabinet doors, and the fridge sounds.

| Anyone else in the kitchen could fix an entire Thanksgiving meal and drop the whole thing on the floor and Wolf would pay them no mind. No matter where he is or what he's doing, when I head to the kitchen, he trots ahead as escort. If I veer to the right and go into the family or living room, he stands by the kitchen counter until he's sure I'm not going to come back. He's learned to stand on his hind legs and walk along sideways on his hind legs so he can follow my every move while I'm cooking just in case a morsel comes his way. |
