and manage to pull out the one wire to the speakers and chew it into!! And of course you bring the broken piece of wire out to show it to mom cause you know she will be so proud of your chewing powers!

Tomorrow I'm off to the computer store.

All my computer speakers dont work anymore.... That seems to be there favorite thing to chew on when puppies. I would suggest getting some heavy duty cord protector tubing and putting all the cords in that. Just last week my cell phone cord charger got chewed in half, and those cost like 30 dollars!

The whole electrocution danger is what really got to me. This computer is on pretty much full time. How he managed to chew through the wire and not get a shock is amazing to me.

Sara, I will be getting a LOT more cord covers and yes, you are right they will be super heavy duty. I thought I had them secured but Aka showed me that I don't. Now I'm worried about all the electric cords that are all over this room. Guess that tomorrow I will also be pulling things away from the walls and checking all the wires, plugs, extension cords etc.

I'm tired just thinking of it.

I'm just glad he didn't get hurt, the llittle stinker doodle. He has just about every toy known to dogs and he still chews wires!! And he loves his toys and loves playing with them. oh well, what a dog!

I'm glad he wasn't hurt too. Apollo had chewed some wires and we puppy proofed them. So when Emma came everything was already puppy proofed!

When Naika was a pup she chewed my laptop charger in half, of course it was my fault because I had left it lying out, and ran out for a minute and returned and chewed in half. I had to get a new adapter and charger, which totaled bout 150. After that, I didn't leave anything chewable out, even if I were gone but a minute!

At least the speaker wires dont have any REAL electrical "power" in them.  I have A Pom (Heidi) that was given to us when she was a puppy because she chewed through a lamp cord while the lamp was on, and it totally fried the inside of her mouth. The people that owned her at the time didnt even take her to a vet when it happened, and she got gangrene inside her mouth---that's when they called us and said "help us--DO SOMETHING" so we took her to the vet and got shots, meds, antibiotics and the whole works done for her, then the owners said "she's too much trouble--you can just keep her if you want her"---yeah, like I was gonna give her back to them after all that anyway! HAH!

So all you new puppy owners---BEWARE of cords that might look particularly appealing to those little puppy teeth---they have no idea what's inside those cords---they could get ZAPPED if they chew the wrong thing!

Paul,

That poor little Pom and those awful folks! One of my main worries has been Aka chewing wires. We have lots of things plugged in and I had tried to get everything up, tied up or covered up, at least I thought I did! So now it is back to the drawing board. Today I will be crawling around under furniture, etc seeing what cords are where since the little mouth has been here! And if I need to  I will be using cord covering such as PVC pipe cut in half to make runners for long cords that run along the walls, etc.

The real problem was, he chewed the speaker connector right at the back of the CPU, it is a tower on wheels right under my desk. I thought I had the back of the unit placed so he couldn't get to it, but I was wrong!

He is a little Houdini in addition to Jaws! He is crated when we are out so the rapscallion had to do this while I was sitting here at the computer and he was at my feet or in his bed right under the desk, but again, how he got behind the CPU still amazes me. And I didn't hear him back there!!!

Never underestimate the powers of a rattie for anything!!

Well, I'd gladly pay $150 for something Bama chewed in two. HE chose to chew the wires to my airbags completely in two back around Thanksgiving. I need to have the ENTIRE wiring harness replaced at the whopping cost of $1800!! And of course, this isn't anything that can be covered by insurance. Fortunately, John was able to get the wires back together and tape it all up so that the airbags lights went off, although the driver's side airbag light is on again.

For those of you have who have lost cell phone accessories to the terror of terrier teeth, please check out the side www.cellphoneshop.net.

I have been very pleased with the prices and with the services.  The merchandise arrives quickly and is the same quality as items purchased from your cell service provider.  Hope this is helpful.

I am not affiliated with this site in any way so It's not an advertizement.  lol

Sadly they don't sell the camera cord that I need, that my sweet Amos destroyed.  I thought he also had torn up my old one, but it just has teeth marks.  I grabbed it away from him before the damage could be done.  Little RAT!

Abby did the charge to the blood pressure cuff! Hopefully I can find a replacement. My hubby runs very very low pressure and like to keep an eye on it!

We have been lucky with Sonic came to us old enough, over the chewing.,  Sydney on the other hand:  three cellphone cords, four keyboard cables, two nylon leashes chewed in half(just done in the lst two months), three pair of safety glasses, one playstation controller cord, and hers and Sonic's safety harnesses for in the car.(She is part billy goat)  And all this was done when we were around her.  The cord to the keyboards were down even while she would lay on our feet while we were on the computer.

Second week after getting Bailey, after spending a lot of time prior to his arrival getting a "puppyfied" house in order, he struck.  We corral him to whatever room we're in via gates to limit the troubles but he managed to severe the mouse cord.  We were looking at some new pics of him and he snuck under and all it took was a second or two.    I was like, "What the..."  Other than that we've been lucky except a rubber strap from an errant flip-flop, in which he puked up little pink bits about 10 minutes later.   He'll still go after stuff such as sandals, socks, undergarments, and my wife's slippers and heels if left unchecked.

Best regards,

Michael
